What does Scrooge regret when he sees belle and her kids in A Christmas carol in stave 2?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

He regrets breaking up with her in the past - just seeing the break-up makes him feel that he's being tortured.

He sees the family he could have had - it could have been he who was the father of these children and the husband of Belle.

"... and when he thought that such another creature, quite as graceful and as full of promise, might have called him father, and been a spring-time in the haggard winter of his life, his sight grew very dim indeed."

Here he cries just from the thought of what could have been.

What does mrs. cratchit say about Scrooge?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

“The Founder of the Feast indeed!” cried Mrs. Cratchit, reddening. “I wish I had him here. I’d give him a piece of my mind to feast upon, and I hope he’d have a good appetite for it.”

This is Mrs Cratchit's outburst in stave 3 when her husband Bob Cratchit toasts Scrooge as the "Founder of the Feast" (he helped fund their meal). She is indignant that Bob works so hard in Scrooge's office yet gets paid poorly and treated terribly. Keep in mind that she is right - Scrooge barely let him take the day off, claiming that Christmas is a time "for picking a man’s pocket every twenty-fifth of December".

What is a thesis for A Christmas Carol?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, teaches humanity many important life lessons. These lessons are taught to Scrooge by each Spirit as he visits his past, sees the present, and previews his future. By learning the lessons of all three Spirits, he is transformed from the meanest of all men to "as good a man as … any good old city, town, or borough in the good old world." The lessons of all three Spirits were necessary for this monumental change to take place.

When Scrooge goes back into his past, he remembers important facts that help him to change his ways. Scrooge learns many important lessons that help him to change as The Ghost of Christmas Present and he travel the world on Christmas Day. You must write a good closing paragraph that restates the thesis statement in different words than in the opening paragraph.
