I believe it is an Anatolian Shepherd. I just saw the commercial and was wondering myself what kind of dog it is. It's large enough to be a dane, but clearly isn't. I found some pictures of Anatolian Shepherds and some of them resemble the dog in the ad (if your talking about the one with the dog sitting in between the husband and wife on the couch and then in bed). The Anatolian has the same tail, coloring and has the capabilities to be that long. I have had several large dogs and am researching getting a new one, and i think the Anatolian will deffinatley be considered. They are great looking dogs! Hope I've been helpful! -Lisa
The Great Dane is a very old breed, known as the "Apollo of all dogs.". Dogs resembling the Great Dane have appeared on Greek money dating back to 36 B.C. There are also drawling's of these dogs on Egyptian monuments from roughly 3000 B.C. The earliest writings of dogs that sounded like Great Danes were in Chinese literature dating back to 1121 B.C. In 407 A.D. German Gaul and part of Italy and Spain were invaded by an Asiatic people (the Alans) who brought with them powerful mastiff-like dogs. They were admired for their ability to bring down bear and wild boar. The dogs were thought to have been Wolfhound mixed with the old English Mastiff. With selective breeding the Greyhound was added in to create the Great Dane. Besides being used as a hunter, they were also used as estate guard dogs. Despite the fact that they are called Danes in English, they have nothing to do with Denmark. The Great Dane was recognized in 1887. Some of the Great Dane's talents are tracking, watchdog and carting.
It depends on the dogs genetic lineage. Inbred Danes or Danes born for very young moms in their first litter have more complications than others.
Skin and Digestive problems are the most common among Danes.
I have heard many professionals state that the pit, is the smartest dog known to man. I have never heard one say that about Danes. Now, none of that really has anything to do with the actual value of the relationship, one has with their dog. The dumbest dog in the world, can be your best friend. It all comes down to your expectations of the relationship, and what you are willing to put into it. In fact, I have to say that pits, being so smart, make them harder to own. The best way to choose a dog, is to read a little bit about all the breeds, then, go to your local animal shelter, and wait until one makes a connection, with you. The best things in the world, have happened to me when I was not looking for it to happen. But, when I set out to make something happen, the worst came of it. I guess what I am saying, is, sometimes in life, we have to go out, and make things happen. Example, we need to control things like jobs, and friends, and some things happen best, when we do not force them, but, are open to opportunities. A relationship with a dog, is one that I have found, for me, that is best left open to chance, thus reducing my expectations of the relationship, and making it more enjoyable.........Chuck.
Their bodies are muscular, they have rectangular heads and long necks. If you'd like to know more about what Great Danes look like, their colors and even see some pictures of Great Danes, the website in the Related Links section will help you.
About 750lbs...
second only to the bull terrier (775lbs)...
and people think that pitbulls are strong haha (225lbs)...
size matters in this case actually (except for the bull terrier)..
Great Dane,Cane Corso,Bull Mastiff,Asian Shepherd, caucasian shepherd and Dog Bordeaux bite force are much stronger then for example Doberman,German Shepherd or Pitbull.
tho you must consider that for example Doberman would attack the neck and not your arm (like most of the dogs) and its attack is way more leatel.
in my opinion, the most dangerous dog's breed are :
1. Great Dane. (if a 90kg dog would attack you,you stand no chance).
2. Caucasian Shepherd. (im sure you know why and i dont need to get into detail here.)
3.Asian Shepherd.
4.Bull Terrier
5.Bull Mastiff
6.Cane Corso
7.Doberman
8.Dog Bordeau
9.German Shepherd.
10.Dogo Argentino.
Hope i helped you.
Great Danes come in black, blue, fawn, merle, mantel, harlequin, and brindle.
We breed our dane/lab mix to a great dane and she was pregnant for two months.
Hi, Be prepared to feed your dog a lot. Great Danes eat 3 to 6 cups of food twice a day. Feed your Great Dane high-grade dog food. The first ingredient should be meat if you want a quality product. Crude protein should be no less than 26 percent (for puppies, no more than 28 percent); crude fat, no less than 20 percent. Fiber content needs to be 4 percent or less. Hope this helps and good luck with the dog!

how mch does a great dane weigh
A Great Dane is truly a great dog--large and noble, commonly referred to as a gentle giant. It weighs about 100 to 200 pounds. Take a look at its vital statistics,

Yes. A great Pyrenees should be 27-32" (weighing 115lb) in males and 25-29" (weighing 85-90lb) in females. A German sheperd dog should be 24-26" in males and 22-24" in females. Both genders should weigh 75-95lbs.
the height in feet will be for the 36 inches3 feet the 32 inches 2 feet 7 inches
Primarily in Denmark, but there is also approx. 50.000 living south of the Danish-German border. They became Prussian, and later German, citizens as a consequence of the 1864 war with Prussia and Austria (and subsequent war between Prussia and Austria), but remain culturally Danish.
Aprox. 10% of the Greenland population are ethnic Danes.
Well, id say a fair amount of work im no dog expert but im guessing because of its size 2 cups of food every meal. And a good amount of exersise they are lap dogs so you might have them in your lap. Freindly with all ages but all dogs have their own personality.
Dogs have been bred/domesticated to the point where they do not have a wild habitat anymore. Dogs haven't technically "lived in the wild" since they were wolves. Great Danes came into existence from selective breeding, which is taking a dog with certain genetic features and mating it with another like it. What we have today is a wide variety of dogs that originally were bred by humans to do certain things. Examples of this would be sheep dogs or a German shepards.
Due to their size and strength, a Great Dane can be more dangerous than a smaller dog.
A chihuahua wouldn't be able to push someone over to get to their throat, which a Dreat Dane would have no trouble doing.
But there's nothing in their temperament that makes them more prone to attack.
If anything, they tend to be more tolerant than many smaller dog breeds.
Great Danes are truly gentle giants when raised properly and bred with responsibility. Danes are the sweetest dogs but NO ONE should have one without a colossal cage because as puppies they love to chew and when left alone nothing is safe until they are taught what's off limits! My husband is having his first Dane experience with our baby of 9 months Vixen (now 110lbs and 31 inches to her shoulder) and although he had reservations he is crazy about her and shocked by her laid back nature!!! They have hearts as big as they are and if you love dogs you would be lucky to be owned by a Dane!!! One other important piece of information, Great Danes are NOT outside yard, pen type of dogs and need the human experience to flourish. Don't let their size fool you though, if properly trained their laid back nature makes them a wonderful house dog. Just give them a large thick dog pad or even better a covered designated area of your couch and that's where you will find them often!
It depends on the colors they carry/colors behind them in the pedigree. If the black is homozygous he will only throw black. But if he is is a black from a harl breeding it depends in the colors in the harl breeding. If he is a black from a blue breeding he could produce more blue (porcelain/blue mantles) amongst the other harl colors. If he's a black/fawn he could produce fawnequins if the porcelain carries for fawn. It's alot deeper than just the 2 dogs you see.
