Hey Donna==You need to pull the trim off of the door and see what has gone wrong with the linkage. Sometimes the trim is very hard to pull off and there are hidden screws. You might see if a manual at Auto Zone has the removal of door trim in it. GoodluckJoe
Depending on the car and the damage, there are many different solutions. If the handle is just broken, you can try to remove the interior door panel and manually attempt to open the door. If the door is smashed shut, you may have to remove the front fender to get at the hinges to remove the door.
You may have to cut a hole in the door trim pannel. I would take it to a auto trim shop and they may be able to do it.
Take a testlight to the switch to see if you have power. If otherwise, you have to make a jumper wire to jump the switch.

Have you checked your maintenance manual? The instructions are in there; I've done it myself and I put the key in, turned it to the second setting and then pressed the button to go to the oil life and held the button down for 10 seconds - or something similar to that. (Just check the owner's manual to be sure).
On the bottom of the button at the lower right corner of the panel are two tiny buttons marked hr and mn. They can be hard to see. Just push them to change the time BUT you must hold each button in for a few seconds before it starts to respond. The radio must be turned off when you change the time.
The first ignition key was installed in the 1910 Cadillac. On this car you turned the key and then pushed another button to start the engine. In 1949 Chrysler introduced the ignition key combination as we know it today.
To clarify just a bit. The doors no longer unlock when car is turned off or when using the keyless entry remote. Using the key and the button on the drivers side door still works with out a problem. Also, the doors will still lock when car is turned on and when the doors are locked using keyless entry remote.

One can tell if a push button switch is on or off depending on the height of the button. If the button gets lower by pressing it, it is turned on (it was initially off). If the button gets higher by pressing it, it is turned off (it was initially on).
