As with the spreading of it too most other area's, Evangelist have traveled all over the world to spread the Christan Faith and share with those that are not fortunate to have heard it before. These areas included African. One of the earliest reports of the spread of Christianity to Africa comes through the story found in the New Testament book of Acts 8:26-40. This chapter relates how the early evangelist Philip met an Ethiopian who was studying the Old Testament book of Isaiah. Philip offered to explain the meaning of the passage he was reading, and this led to the conversion of the Ethiopian to Christianity. This particular Ethiopian was described as being an important official in charge of the treasury of Queen Candace, so he evidently had some considerable influence. For this reason, Ethiopia in Africa is regarded by many as where Christianity spread out further from. Christianity became the official reliion of the Roman Empire in the 4th Century AD, including North Africa. Muslims controlled this region later, but they were very tolerant of Christianity, while seldom the reverse is true. In the 19th Century, Christian missionaries ventured into Africa. By the 20th Century, most of Africa was divided and colonized among Christian European countries. The colonial era has ended, but the religion of the former colonizers has remained.

Took away all the indigenous gods and believes of the people and their ancient practices. They discouraged polygamy and ritual killings e.g the killing of twins in Nigeria and killing of female first born. Africans however have always been very religious way before the introduction of Christianity into the continent. And they remain deeply so.

Why did Christianity spread the most?

Christianity spread more than any other religion because it became the state religion of the Roman Empire. Eventually, those who refused to be Christian were persecuted, tortured or killed. When Europeans spread out to found colonies in the New World, they took Christianity with them, often spreading it by military force.
