War I had nothing to do with Hitler. Hitler fought in it, but beyond that, WWI was the result of two major things: Imperialism and the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand. Imperialism is the belief that the strongest country is the country with the largest empire, with the most colonies, and usually has ties to militarism, the belief that the strongest country is the country with the largest military. Imperialism led to a network of alliances all across Europe, with two being the most powerful: The Allies, or Twiple Entente, whcih was mostly France, Britain, and Russia, and the Central Powers, mostly Germany and Austria-Hungary, and later the Ottoman Empire. Francis Ferdinand was Archduke, or Prince, of Austria-Hungary. He was assassinated by Serbian nationalists, so Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Russia was allied with Serbia, so they declared war on Austria-Hungary. Germany then declared war on Russia, and France declared war on Germany. Germany, through the Schleiffen Plan, wanted to take France out quickly, so they marched through neutral Belgium, so Britain declared war on Germany. WWI begins, and lasts from 1914-1918. When it ends, Germany is handed the worst peace agreement in history. Germany is forced to pay off all the money the Allies spent on the war, and of course it can't. It then has no money, and it's leaders didn't understand Economics well enough to know not to try to print more. They printed so much money that it lost all value. Germany became so poor that it was cheaper to burn money than buy firewood. This atmosphere of despair allowed the Nazis to come to power, and allowed them to catapult the world into World War II. A common misconception is that Hitler is why WWII happened. This is nothing but false. WWII would have happened no matter what, after the Treaty of Versailles ruined Germany so horribly.

World War 1 began after the Archduke (Franz Ferdinand) of the decaying Austro-Hungarian empire was assassinated in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914 by a group of Serbian nationalists. This event began the struggle between Serbia and the Austro-Hungarian government.

On July 26, 1914, the Austro-Hungarian officials issued an ultimatum to the Serbian government containing five major concessions. Once the time limit on the ultimatum had expired, Austro-Hungary declared war on Serbia.

World War 2 started when Britain and France declared war on germany. France and Britain declared war on germany because hitler sent 1 million troops to invade poland along with another 500,000 in support during the invasion. Germany invaded poland because Germany wanted to reclaim it's land what they lost because of the Treaty of Versailled which was signed when germany lost world war 1 the the Allied Forces.
