The best tool I know of to remove the manual hand crank to the windows, of all items is a dish rag. Yes I sad it... a dish rag. First crank the window all of the way down, this will add tension for the later steps. Rap the rag around the handle as close to the door panel as possible. The rag doesn't need to be rapped 360 degrees around the handle, more like 180-270. Move the rag back and forth like you're trying to buff the handle. (It works better if you move the rag in a manner that will rotate the handle towards a down position which will cause it to stop, because the window should already be at the full down positon.) The rag will snag one of the ends of a C-clip that holds the handle to the crank rod and eventually cause it to come out of the slot in the handle itself. Be careful not to lose the clip though, it is rather small. Hope that helps.
AnswerYou can also buy a window crank removal tool from an auto parts store. Just ask for it. -JesseI read the dish cloth answer and didn't believe it, however, I tried it out and my window winder flew across the car in the first couple of seconds of wiggling the cloth (along with the clip). Amazing. Don't waste your money on a special tool you'll only use once :-) Rich

If it's the outer handle you would need to remove the door panel, then remove the rivits that hold the handle to the outside of the car. Then remove the window track and slide it down inside of the door and unhook the rod on the handle, and now you can slide the door handle out.
take a thin rag and shimmy the edge of it betwen the handle and the door panel. Then pull it back and forth like your trying to saw it off. this will catch the C- type clip that holds the handle on and remove it without hurting it. Be careful to watch for the clip to spring out fast and far, in car or out in driveway. Then when you want to replace the handle, simply snap it in the groove in the handle and then push the handle back on the spline and the spring will auto - lock on the handle.
