It requires a SPECIAL tool that you can push the plate down with and then remove the lock ring that's around the steering shaft. There is a spring under the plate, IT MUST BE PUSHED DOWN TO REMOVE LOCK RING.
You need to remove the steering wheel. The switch is located below the steering wheel.

You have to take apart the steering column, remove the steering wheel, remove the ignition switch, and it's a pain in the butt.
First remove the steering wheel, remove the torx screws and remove the house, remove the signal switch and the wiper switch, remove the torx screws and?æremove the ignition switch. Put in the new switch and replace everything in reverse.?æ

Remove the plastic shielding from around the steering column, unplug the multifunction switch, remove the bolts used to mount the multifunction switch. Installation is the opposite of reverse
Remove steering wheel (with wheel puller), remove lockplate (with lockplate remover), remove 3 screws that hold turn signal switch, unplug switch at bottom of column, fish out the wires, install new switch, fish in new wires.
remove the steering column shouds and use a T20 torx screwdriver to take the two T/S switch mounting screws out and replace the switch.
