Kia's have rear calipers with screw in pistons. You must buy a tool from your local auto parts store called a "cube" it has little notches that fit into grooves on the piston. Then attach a standard socket and screw in the piston.
you have to push the brake cylinder back into the caliper using a "C" clamp

If it is a drum brake system, then you will have to remove the wheel ,drum, brake shoes, and hydraulic brake line , then remove and replace the cylinder with a new one re-assemble and bleed the hydraulic brake system
take the brake line out of the back of the wheel cylinder, pull the brake pads off and then take the 2 bolts out of the back of the cylinder and pull the wheel cylinder out.
I have a 01 Volvo and I had the same problem trying to compress the rear brake cyinder. Turns out that a car that has 4 wheel disc brakes, the cylinder screws in. You have to buy a universal tool from the auto parts store and it will go in enough to replace the brake pads..
Possibly, sometimes the brake cylinder develops rust and sticks. If a cylinder has problems I find it easier to replace the whole cylinder or caliper.
Pads are worn out, and your Mater Cylinder is possibly bad. Inspect the brake pads and replace as necessary. Inspect the rotor for damage and have it turned or replace it. If after replacing the pads/rotors, if the brake pedal slowly goes down when applying the brakes, replace the master cylinder.
The rear disc brake piston needs to turn as it is retracted / compressed into the caliper.Go to the parts store and tell them you need the brake cylinder retraction tool. Cost about 10 bucks and works for a variety of cars/vans.It is a square with a couple of different teeth on each face, to align with the notches in the face of the brake piston.Should work with a 3/8 drive ratchet. Clockwise facing the cylinder to retract. Have fun!
remove brake lines, remove bolts on the bracket that holds the cylinder to the brake booster then its free. Some cases you will have to pry open the brake shoes.
