Eight (8) temples do not have an angel Moroni. They are the St. George Utah, Logan Utah, Manti Utah, Laie Hawaii, Cardston Alberta, Mesa Arizona, Hamilton New Zealand, and Oakland California Temples.

∙ 14y agoMost of them. As of Jun 30th 2009 there are 129 temples in operation worldwide. Of all 129 only 2 do are not topped with an angel Moroni statue: Mesa, Arizona, USA and Cardston, Alberta, Canada. They are in the design of Solomon's temple and therefore have no spire, which is where the statues are placed.
(Laie, Hawaii, USA which Closed for renovations also has no spire or Angel)

∙ 14y agoNo. Putting an Angel Moroni on each temple was not a common practice until the 1970's. Since then, many temples have had an Angel Moroni statue added, but a few have not. Those without a Moroni statue are:
St. George Utah
Logan Utah
Manti Utah
Laie Hawaii
Cardston Alberta
Mesa Arizona
Hamilton New Zealand

What is a LDS church spire?
Most Church meetinghouses owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" or "LDS" church) have a spire or steeple. Not only do spires or steeples help others recognize the building as a religious building, they also hold symbolism. Was the original Moroni Statue all gold and was it ever stolen?
No. None of the Moroni statues on LDS temples have been all gold. They are made of a different metal or fiberglass and then encased with a thin layer of gold. And none of them have ever been stolen... that would be nearly impossible as you'd need a crane, large flatbed truck, special tools, and several men. The Moroni statues are all 10-15 feet tall.
Has the Tokyo LDS Temple got damaged in the earthquake?

Um... no, that's probably the weirdest rumor about the LDS church I've ever heard. An angel named Moroni, the prophet who hid the gold plates before he died, told Joseph Smith where they were. There is the case of the "Salamander letters", created by con man Mark Hoffman, which letters were allegedly written by Joseph Smith and purported to identify that Moroni had come in the form of a salamander to visit Joseph Smith. However, the Salamander letters were later proven to be forged.

The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ and his divinity and His coming to the America's after His death and resurrection. While the LDS church does have Prophets and Apostles, they do not worship them but instead the Prophet and Apostles also testify to the church membership of Christ's life and teachings. The LDS church is stated by many groups that they believe they are the only true religion. The LDS church got this reputation due to the fact that they are the only church with certain practices that take place in Temples but do not go against anything in the Bible, but rather support it. The LDS church does not believe people of other religions are evil or anything, they just believe that they do not have the full knowledge of God that is available to those who read the Book of Mormon and attend the LDS Temples. There are groups who speak out against the LDS church for the practice of having Temples and state that evil rites take place in the Temples or that Mormons are not Christians. There are many different arguments both for and against the Mormon church that ultimately come down to ones belief of their own religion or their beliefs of life in general.
When was the Mormon temple built?
The first LDS (Mormon) Temple was built in Kirtland, Ohio and dedicated on March 27, 1836. (LDS Church Chronology 1805-1914, page 12) The Second LDS (Mormon) temple was built at Nauvoo, Illinois and dedicated on April 30, 1846. The Third LDS (Mormon) temple was built in Utah at St. George and dedicated on April 6, 1877. (LDS Church Chronology 1814-1914). Today (May 2011) there are 134 temples in use around the world. Plus there are 10 more under construction and 16 more announced. For a total of 160 temples.
