A lack of sodium is just as bad for a person as too much sodium. The body needs salt. I think you should keep it at around 2,000 mg a day.

The major health organizations in the US recommend 2300 mg or less sodium daily. Be careful not to cut back too much because your body needs some salt to keep going.
