It's known as hyponatremia. It happens when the body's balance of salt and water become quickly diluted. It affects the production of nerve impulses, and impairs mental processes. Cells take on extra water and expand. As they swell, they put stress on the body's organs, particularly the brain, which has little room to expand within the skull. Sometimes Hyponatremia is caused by an underlying medical condition, but is more often caused by the overconsumption of water by someone who is extremely active, such as militia and high level athletes. This is one of the reasons that sports drinks are popular, because they have salts in them that help to restore this natural balance.

Also, whoever answered below is a blubbering idiot. I'm leaving it here for comedic purposes.

yes it can because of water infaxination so you really only need to drink 3 glasses per day or 2 big water bottles per day and if you drink more it probably wont kill you just then but if you keep on and keep on it might so you need to really be careful about how much you drink not beer well that to but water k.

A grown adult male has approximately 5 litres of blood in his body. A woman has about 4.7 litres.

A man can survive with about 3 litres of blood so 2 litres of blood loss. A woman can survive with slightly less....just under 3 litres so still about 2 litres of blood loss.

Two thirds of the human body composed of water. This water is used for blood circulation, respiration, digestion etc. If you are losing more water than you are drinking, dehydration will occur. As you lose water you start weakening; if you lose just 2.5% of your body weight from water loss, you will lose 25% of your efficiency.

"As the Survivor dehydrates, his blood becomes thicker and loses volume. This causes the heart to work harder and circulation of blood to be less efficient. In a survival situation, losing a full one quarter of your physical and mental abilities due to dehydration could mean the end of your life."

-Survivalkit.com

For a 150 pound man, losing one quarter of his liquid body weight, which is 2/3rds of his weight would be

2/3 of 150 =100 lbs of water weight

losing 25% of that would be 25 lbs of water weight

25 lbs= 3 liters

You are 75% water, at 70% you are dehydrated, at 65% you would have a splitting headache, at between 45 and 50% you would start to lose vision or go blind and at any less than 40% you would start dying
