How old is a Marlin 30-30 Model 1893 serial number D6361 having a round barrel and has the designation Model 1893 not Model 93?
D prefix Marlin 1893's are always post WWI era. The Marlin company was sold to Rockwell Intl. during WWI, and after the War the company was resold to the Marlin Firearms Corporation. At that time serial numbers were restarted, and prefix letters added. These first post WWI guns were assembled from leftover pre-War parts, and so some 1893's with prefix letters are found after WWI. Your gun was most likely from around 1922-23 era. It may also have the "Marlin Firearms Corporation" rollstamp on the barrel.

What year was a Marlin Lever Action Model 1893 manufactured and what caliber is serial 203475 Special Smokeless Steel on an octagonal barrel with Marlin Safety on top of the action?
Answer Roughly 1900. Since Marlin mixed serial numbers between models on the early levers it can be hard to pin down exactly. As to caliber, look on the top fl…at of the barrel. firstname.lastname@example.org
How old is a Marlin 30-30 Model 1893 serial number D19 having a round barrel and has the designation Model 1893 not Model 93?
I can give you some general info from the 2008 standard catalog of firearms: The barrel on earlier guns is marked "Marlin FireArms Co. New Haven, Ct,U.S.A./ patented Oct. 11….1887.April 2.1889.Aug.1.1893." In 1993 the markings were changed to "The Marlin Firearms Corporation/ New Haven, Conn.U.S.A.Patented." The rifles manufactured after 1904 are marked"Special Smokeless Steel" on the left side of the barrel. There were approximately 900,000 manufactured between 1893 and 1935. Hope that helps.
With the serial number that you have provided, your Marlin model 1893 rifle was made in the year 1899.The value of these fine rifles can be determined by the amount of original… finish remaining, and a good bore.I cannot determine A value without a more detailed description of your rifle.
On the bottom of the receiver in front of the lever just before the fore stock. There is a screw right below the number.
When was a Marlin Model 93 30-30 serial a2310 with an octagonal barrel manufactured and what is its approximate value today?
Answer To make things difficult, Marlin did not use a typical sequential numbering system on the Model 1893. Serial numbers overlap with other models, etc…. We can get close based on markings, and some crystal-ball work. Since you identify it as a 'Model 93' instead of 'Model 1893', I am assuming the marking on the top tang behind the hammer is the later 'Model 93.' Your gun should also be marked on the top barrel flat as follows: MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. PATENTED. OCT.11.1887.APRIL 2.1889.AUG.1.1893. (would indicate pre-1919) THE MARLIN FIREARMS CORPORATION NEW HAVEN, CONN.U.S.A.-PATENTED (after 1919) You almost certainly have the SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL marking on the barrel, indicating production after 1904. With the Model 1894, Marlin also used the letter-prefix in later production guns and if we make the leap and ASSUME that practice carries over, we can further estimate production c. 1912-1915 or so. So, you should have the top barrel marking, above, AND the Smokeless Steel marking which would definitely narrow it down from 1904-1919, and using the logic that Marlin probably carried the serial scheme across from the 1894 we can safely extrapolate your rifle to the c.1912 range. As to value, the 93 Marlin is heavily collected. Factors that affect value are RARITY (special order features), ORIGINALITY and CONDITION. Money can range from a few hundred to a few thousand depending on those factors. You need to get your rifle in the hands of an experienced Marlin person, or at least very good digital pictures sent, to start the evaluation process. email@example.com Answer Need more info to determine the date of manufacture for a2310. Is the prefix letter actually "a" or is it"A"? What is the complete rollstamp marking on the barrel? Is there a black and white "bullseye" imbedded in the bottom of the buttstock, @ 2 1/2" forward of the buttplate? Is this gun a carbine or rifle? What length barrel? With this info I can tell you the approximate date of mfg. I can say assuredly that it is post 1922-1935, but the rest will narrow it down. As for value, the only way to determine value on collectable firearms is by first hand examination, or very good pictures and description of the bore. This would be like asking the value of a car, without knowing if it was undriven or wrecked. firstname.lastname@example.org
Answer aprox.10years ago i saw in a gun values book at barnes and noble that this gun was 600 to 700 dollars check it out and please update this information thank… you
I have a Marlin 1893 in .30 WCF (30-30) I inherited it. I brought it to my local gunsmith, for some person in the past had removed the iron sights..I wanted them replaced with… original stuff if possible. He told me that after the gum was complete it would fetch 850-1000 dollars for the Marlins are much rarer than the Winchester levers of that era.
Answer All Marlin 30as models are modern guns, and as such have serial numbers. If your gun has had the serial number removed, it is in violation of BATF …rules, and must be destroyed. Check the gun over closely, as you may have overlooked the serial number. They are either behind the hammer on the top tang, or under the lever on the bottom tang, behind the trigger. If you can't find it in either of those locations, then remove the buttstock tang screw, and check the left side of the upper tang. It should also be there under the wood. email@example.com Answer This model was not made before 1983 and any firearms manufactured or sold in the US after 1968 must have the serial number plainly marked on the receiver. It can be on the top, bottom, or either side.
Answer 1904 gun. Value is determined by originality, condition, and any special features that might be present. The 1893 was offered as a takedown, speci…al barrel lengths or sights could be ordered, upgraded wood, the list goes on. Without knowing these things, value can range from $300/350 to over $1000. Digital pics would be a big help. firstname.lastname@example.org
Where can you buy an original stock for Marlin Safety Model 1893 30-30 with an octagonal barrel serial number 294484?
Answer Take-off wood for the Model 1893 is virtually nonexistant. To replace the stock, you will probably need to start with a good replacement part and f…inish to match the forend. email@example.com
1893 .32-40 A safe load depends on several things in early guns. First they should always be cast lead, as it's easier on the bore than jacketed bullets. T…hese old guns used softer steel than newer guns, so I always use cast lead. Size will depend on your gun's bore, and you should slug the bore and buy or cast bullets that are .001-.003" larger. I like something around 170 gr. for the 1893 Marlin in .32-40, and either 4198 or 4895 powder. With 4198 I use 14.0 grs. for about 1350 fps, and with 4895 I use 15 grs. for around the same velocity.
Your Marlin model 1893 rifle, which was made by Marlin in the year 1905 have been selling for between 800-1,200 dollars. This of course depends on the amount of original finish …remaining, and the overall condition of your rifle.
Answer Serial number indicates a mfg date of 1895.
Yes they did I own a Marlin 44-40 Winchester made 1893
