How poor is Africa exactly?

Some South Africans are poor, but then again some are not. Most people in africa are more poor than people in America or England. Most africans have to scrape up all the money they have just to stay alive. They have families to feed and if not, even feeding just yourself can be hard when you are very poor. South Africa is more of a poor country than rich because most of the citizens die young or are unemployed so they can't afford money nice things, some even food. Most africans are farmers because you needn't be fully or at all educated to have this job. It does not make people a lot of money but enough to get by. When africans crops fail in storms, they became very poor for a while or for ever. Some africans can not even afford to be a farmer!

Africa is a huge continent. It has over 50 independent countries (currently 54) and extends in land mass through both the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn (as well as the Equator).

This being said it has a huge geographical as well as climatic range. Some areas have an abundance of natural minerals others not. Some areas have plentiful rainfall and fertile soil, others not.

It stands to reason that some areas have larger abundance of Natural Resources than others, so the answer is no, Africa is not really poor, it has vast amounts of untapped resources.

The main problems the continent faces, which offset the natural wealth are:

Over population (some areas, not all)

Poor primary health care (some areas, not all)

Vast areas of inhospitable and arid land (think Sahara Desert)

These are just some of the issues, each country on the continent has some advantages and disadvantages, in general the disadvantages outweigh the advantages resulting in miss management or misuse of the resources that they do have.

One thing Africa is definitely rich in is culture and diversity of people and language!
