When talking about a particular vehicle you have a few things to look at. they include:
Year
Make
Model
Trim
Year, is the year a car is manufactured for the market, a 1996 could be made in 1996 or even late 1995
Make is the Company badge for a particular vehicle. Honda, Acura, Lexus, Ford, Chevy are all examples of makes.
Model is the individual names(can be words or a series of letters and numbers) given to a certain vehicle to separate them from other vehicles in the same company (make). for example Honda civic, Honda CRV, Honda Prelude, Honda S2000 are cars made by Honda
and Trim is the different editions from the same model. these editions usually range from base which has minimal equipment options to the top of the line Trim which is fully loaded.
