Martin Luther King Jr. was the centerpiece, if you will, for fighting for equal rights for Black Americans. He was most active in the United States in the 1960's. His dream was that all Americans should have equality and civil rights. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. He always called for peaceful means to obtain equal rights for Black Americans. He was against the war in Vietnam as well. This great man had his life ended much to soon as he was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968. His deed and courage fill thousands of books on his life.
