I am sure those of you reading this page would have more or less known something about the lost island/continent of Atlantis, and have different perspectives about the existence of it. If you think that Atlantis ever existed: 1) Atlantis is the missing piece of land between North America and Western Europe in the theory of Pangaea. 2) There are many pieces of evidences (e.g. Pictures of a city claiming to be Atlantis...) posted on the Net. 3) The descriptions of it are so attractive you have no choice but to believe it. 4) Your ancestors are Atlanteans! If you think that Atlantis NEVER existed: 1) You simply do not believe in myths. 2) The area of Atlantis was too big to be fitted into the North Atlantic Ocean... 3) Atlantis, a big landmass, could not have just sunk overnight despite the number of natural disasters that occurred there. 4) There is lack of evidence and you are not convinced. 5) There are too many different pieces of evidence on the Net you do not know which one to believe in. 6) Plato's description (the advanced technology at that time, the amount of riches...) are simply too difficult to believe. You are all kindly requested to revisit Plato. Atlantis did exist and part of its remainings are the Azores islands. The disaster was of human activity [nuclear war?] 15.000 years ago
Plato wrote about this in 448 BC.

Many people believe that the historical basis for the Atlantis myth was the Minoan Civilization on the island of Thera in the Mediterranean (now called Santorini).
The Minoan eruption is a key marker for the Bronze Age chronology of the Eastern Mediterranean world.
The Island exploded in a huge volcanic eruption that destroyed the Minoan civilization across the whole Mediterranean somewhere between 1627 BCE and 1600 BCE.
The existence of it was first postulated by Plato in 355 BC, claiming it was in the North Atlantic Ocean. Brazilian scientist, Prof. Arysio Santos, is 'credited' with finding the Lost Continent; and believes it lies in the Indian ocean.
Plato described Atlantis as a beautiful continent-sized island that existed some where to the west of the Mediterranean. Plato's description of the exact location is vague at best, giving us only its general direction. People have been searching for Atlantis for centuries. In fact, practally every country in the world has at one time, or the other, been identified as the Lost paradise!

According to Plato, it sank beneath the ocean 11,000 to 12,000 years ago.
The Greek Philosopher Plato- circa 360 BC. Plato also founded the infamous Five Platonic solids, widely used by art teacher Jon Gnagy. You know, Sphere, Cone, Cube, Cylinder, and Pyramid.
Yes, someone finally found Atlantis. That someone is Professor Arysia Santos from Brazil. He found it in the Indian Ocean and the Pyramids of Atlantis are found in West Java.

The lost city of Atlantis is a mythical island that was said to have sunk into the sea. Since its existence has never been proven, there is no definitive depth for the lost city of Atlantis.
It was made of stone.
Yes.
The sinking of the lost city of Atlantis is a mythical story rather than a historical event. According to Plato's dialogues, Atlantis was punished by the gods for their arrogance and corruption, causing it to be submerged underwater. There is no scientific evidence to support the existence of Atlantis as a real city.
There is no evidence that such a city ever existed, at least not by that name. It is considered a myth.
I think it is somewhere far undeath the sea where the people of Atlantis are . Nobody knows for sure that the lost city of Atlantis ever existed.
