The invaders and controllers of country's made a lot of money. Other then that there were none. NOTE: To the person who answered this before me, you can't honestly say that there were no positive results of Imperialism. The spread of Democracy through US imperialism can be considered a positive result, and the Philippines actually progressed socially because of our involvement. Just because people may not realize it, doesn't mean that imperialism can't be good.
Answer 1
the benefits of imperialism are, the policy of making the country's popularity bigger and the handheld power stronger and more resistant.
Answer 2
The benefits of imperialism depend upon the period in history. In the 1800s, Manifest Destiny was the drive of the imperialists. The US was destined to spread from sea to sea and even take over land to our north and south. Taking over more land would help the economy and provide more land for settlement. The South saw the west as land to expand the plantation system. The North saw settlement of the west as a commercial boom. More products could be sold and more raw materials could be provided for industry. At the turn of the century, expanding over seas became a continuation of Manifest Destiny. The Navy could acquire land for coaling stations and stopovers on long voyages. Many lands in the Pacific and Asia would become strategically important to the military. Missionaries saw expansion as a way to spread the gospel. "Uncivilized" peoples would benefit from our culture and government. Acquiring influence or control in foreign lands would aid our economy by providing market places for our goods and more raw materials for trade or for our industries.
Generally speaking, there are no "good" things about imperialism. Imperialists take over an underdeveloped nation and extract wealth and power by holding on to its prey. There is a cost of human lives in the practice of imperialism. It provides "control" of a people and defines the progress this group of people can be allowed to make.On the other hand, it can be said that once the imperialist leaves its colony, the people may now benefit from the technology left behind. This is a poor way to create a "good result" from imperialism.
