US President Abraham Lincoln had firm, deep seated thoughts about Blacks and slavery. History reveals however, that as his career moved along, some of his ideas are subject to speculation. One of his ideas, however, are clear. He believed slavery was immoral and Black slaves were not property. Now, for a time it was also clear that he did not believe that former slaves could live a full life in the USA because of racism. His solution to that was to support efforts to have freed Blacks to volunteer for deportation to a government created colony. Whether in Africa or somewhere in South American. Based on his debates with Stephan Douglas in 1858, he stated that he did not believe that Blacks had the intelligence to vote, serve on juries or hold official offices. His later views when he was president seemed to change. It would be a sound view that he would, at some point come to the belief that Blacks should have every right that white citizens had.
