You can find the wiring diagram for the stereo of a 1998 Volkswagen Passat in the service manual. It shows what each color wire is used to connect each component and where the wire is routed.
It's a code for the paint color on your car. Each manufacturer has their own special shades of common colors. For color matching purposes.
Remove the plastic trim panels to the left and right of the stereo with your fingernails or something that will not scratch the plastic. This will reveal four holes on each side. At a Radioshack type store you can buy DIN removal tools. But for a Double Din stereo you will need to buy two such packages. The instructions come with the package.
Stereo codes are unique to each stereo and you will have to get the serial number from the stereo and call an Acura dealer for the code.
On a Peugeot 806 car stereo there are two thin pieces of black plastic at each side, you need to gently prize them off, and that reveals 2 screws on each side you can then remove the stereo. -Jakey5565
Standard 2 Piece Harness Up To Late 1990
First you will need 4stereo removal tools, you need the 'U' shaped ones. You can get these at auto zone they come 2 in a package so get 2 packages. Then on each side of your stereo there will be two slim tabs you can pop off. Under there there will be 3 holes on each side. Put the removal tools into the hole (the middle hole is bigger so that two can fit in). once all four tools are in simply pull outward away from the stereo and it should slide right out. All of this is in the users manual.
The easiest way is to buy a wire harness adapter that covers your specific vehicle. They sell them anywhere car audio stuff is sold. It will plug into the wire harness plugs under your dash, and it will include a color coded diagram of each wired and what it is. Then you match them up according to the wires on the stereo you wish to install. If you don't have instructions with your radio, there may be a wiring diagram printed on its case, or just google for a wiring diagram based on your stereo's model number. Remember the wires aren't necessarily matched by color, but by their function.
go to walmart in the auto stereo section they sell the tools to pull out the factory stereo on ford .the 2 tools that are shaped like big (U) . one for each side of stereo
You can get a Ford Fiesta stereo wiring diagram at a website called modifiedlife. It also lists all the wire colors for each component that is needed for wiring the stereo.
mazda, park mazda, city mazda, good fellow auto, and mazda credit are all great online resources available to find information to finance a Mazda for each individual budget.
u need a stereo pulling tool. you can get it at any auto parts store just ask and they will tell what kind to buy. there should be two holes on either side of the stereo u just insert the tool, and pull the stereo out. You don't need a stereo puller if you have a thick wire hanger. Cut the straight parts of the hanger with snips into 2 lengths, each about 6 inches long. Bend each into a "U" shape so that both ends will fit into the holes on the stereo. Insert both "U's" into the four holes on either side of the stereo and simultaneously pull each to the side so that the wire will compress the spring locks that hold the stereo in place. Once you have a good grip with each U against the stereo, slowly start pulling it out while keeping the pressure on. You may have to wiggle it a bit to get it started. Save the ten bucks a stereo puller will cost.
