Sociopath? Maybe not.
Without question he's a very disturbed little boy, who DESPERATELY needs some help.
I'm VERY much against the Ritalin-epidemic -- where we used to say "boys will be boys", now we must drug them into insensibility for being boys.
THIS however is not even CLOSE to "normal."
Every "serial-killer" in history started by torturing helpless animals.
This kid needs some serious help NOW. You might even consider inpatient treatment. They CAN break his bad habits and condition him into proper behavior. I've seen a 6 year old boy who smacked his Mom turn into a 16 year old who beat her with a Baseball bat.
It will only get harder the longer it goes on - until he reaches a point where there may be no way to help him. It'll be the hardest thing you ever did, but if you love him you MUST help him - otherwise he'll leave chaos and Horror behind him on his way to prison or an early death.
