The normal range should be anywhere from 1/4 to half way depending on the style of gauge. My 92 has air and it runs just a bit above the 1/4 mark.

You should just need a long funnel to stick into the tube that holds the trans. dipstick. Then put the funnel in it and begin to fill.. but dont over fill it, make sure you check it while the engine is idling and trans hot, or it will not be accurate.
