Contrary to common belief the traditional food in Greece is neither gyros nor souvlaki. Fasolada, a bean soup is defined in many cookery books as the traditional Greek dish. It is made of beans, tomatoes, carrot, celery and a generous amount of olive oil. Other widely-known dishes are the classic Greek Salad, Tzatziki, Moussaka and then Gyros. There are different dishes for different holidays, but mostly the Greek cuisine typical Mediterranean cuisine.

One important detail is that every place has their own traditional dish, depending on the history and the influence's of other countries.
