He had several jobs in WW2. At first he was the commander of the 2d armored division with the rank of Major General. He was then selected to command the western task force in operation torch which landed on the coast of Morocco. On 3/6/1943 he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and commanded the 7th army in the invasion of Sicily. For months before the Normandy landings in France (D-Day), Patton was involved in operation fortitude, which had the Nazi high command believe the invasion would happen at Pas DE Calais. His last and most notable job came on 8/1/1944 when he was given command of the 3d army (part of the 12th army group). His army was the extreme western flank of the allied forces, which killed, captured and wounded more enemy combatants than any other unit in th E.T.O. He is most notability known for turning his entire army 90 degrees to the north during the "Battle of the Bulge". From 8/1/1944 to the end of the war, his army blasted their way through 6 countries, which remains one of the greatest military feats in history.

World War 1 and World War 2. He also saw his first action chasing bandits in Mexico who raided towns in the US and killed US citizens in the process. The action in Mexico was not a war. It is in Mexico where he first gained attention by returning back to base with two bandits hung over the hood of his vehicle who he and his unit killed.
