Every GI who served in South Vietnam recieved the South Vietnamese Campaign medal (actually a ribbon, no GI ever wore the medals...those go on the dress army blue uniform...and draftees didn't care all that much about dress blue uniforms).

RVN=Republic of South Vietnam (more commonly called South Vietnam).

Not an easy prospect. Military records are generally a matter of privacy. You can however file a FOA request with the Department of Defense for specific units for specific time periods.
