Checking, inspecting and topping of the Power Steering (PS) fluid on a 1997 Buick Regal is a routine and simple procedure. The engine should be shut off and the vehicle parked in a safe location. Care should be exercised if the engine is hot. The PS cap can be located under the hood with the symbol of a steering wheel on it. The cap is also the dip stick of level. Once the level is determined top off fluid can be added. If fluid needs to be constantly added it is an indication of a leak and service will needed.
Where is the power steering fluid for a 1997 Buick Regal LS 3.8 liter engine?
you need power steering fluid.
The power steering dipstick is made into the fluid filler cap. The power steering unit is on the front of the motor, and the cap is right on the top of it.
both power steering fluid and transmission fluid are hydraulic fluids, but it would be best to get some power steering fluid. its cheap and its the right stuff. 91 buicks take just plain Jane power steering fluid.
look below heater hose
It is at the back of the engine on the pass side. It is under the alternator, follow the serpentine belt to the power steering pump.
Look on passenger side rear of engine
Passenger side, under the alternator, towards the firewall.
Assuming this is a 3800 Buick engine the power steering pump is on the left side (hood up looking into the engine bay) of the engine toward the firewall (back side of engine). In our 94 Regal it is basically right on top of the engine and the serpentine belt that drives this pump is clearly visable as is the filler cap for p/s fluid!
PS reservoir if facing the front of the car it is on the left hand side below the alternator against the firewall.
You can bypass the power steering pump pulley in your 1993 Buick regal 3.8 liter engine. Measure the distance around the other pulleys, without the power steering pump pulley. Take the measurement to your local auto-parts stores and ask for a belt of that measurement.
Okay, it took me about 10 minutes but I found it. I have a 1994 Buick Regal & my oil filter is on the back passenger side of the engine, about 3/4 of the way down, below the power steering box. I hope that helps! On my 1991 Buick Regal the oil filter is located under the power steering pump which you access through the passenger wheel well to remove/add the filter.
