The tensioner for the serpentine belt on a 1999 SL-1 is located just below and forward of the Power Steering pump (which is close to the firewall). You will be able to see it with a good light because it has a square fitting exposed that either a 1/2" or 9/16" wrench will fit on. It is not extremely easy to reach, especially if you have big hands. When you do get a wrench on it, turn it clockwise and the belt will loosen right up. Remember, the tensioner is under spring tension, so ease the wrench off slowly.
Honda Man'sThere is no manual way to tighten the belt. The serpentine belt tensioner is spring loaded and requires no adjustment. If the belt is too loose replacing the belt tensioner will be required. it should tighten automaticly, you may need to replace the tensioner
It is located right under the alternator.
It has a serpentine belt and has a self adjusting tensioner.
yeh you're a tool!
Done automatically by belt tensioner
Begin by loosening the tensioner pulley on your 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Put your serpentine belt around the pulleys. Tighten the serpentine belt with the tensioner pulley.
alternator on a 2000 Pontiac runs off a serpentine belt if its loose then chances are ur serpentine belt is worn or stretched or your tensioner pulley is bad or the tensioner itself..alternator bolts stable does not move like the old setup.
Serpentine belt has stretched and needs replacing or the tensioner is defective or both.
Disconnect the battery.Remover the serpentine belt.Unbolt the belt tensioner from the bracket.
you cant, it has an automatic belt tensioner.. you would have to replace the belt if it has stretched
If that's the extent of the complaint, check the serpentine belt and tensioner.
I found this on-line, routed my new belt (tensioner pulley blew out) following this diagram, woohoo!
