AnswerMost newer vehicles include a wheel speed sensor on each wheel that is used to tell when one or more wheel is slipping. The information is used by the ABS system and by the anti-slip feature if present.The speed sensors are also used as a part of the cruise control system.
Many people seem to believe that there is a governor attached to the speed sensors. There is no evidence that a governor exists on any Ford or GM product.
