Where is the wiper circuit breaker on a 1989 Jeep Wrangler 4.2L?
It's located in the fuse box under the steering column- The wiper fuse is on the bottom center of fuse box. The fuse is silver made of aluminum and oblong 1/2" long. It's a dealer item only! The above answer is spot on for Jeep Cherokees too. The front wipers on my 1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo completely stopped working the other day. I just replaced the 4.8 amp aluminum "circuit breaker" (Owners Manual page 109, item # 15) with one of the three I got from a parts yard (very inexpensive) yesterday. All three work perfectly and the wipers are back in action (with the two spares now stored in a zip lock bag in the center console, along with replacement fuses, bulbs and the owners manual).

Disconnect the Wire connector to the top next to the rear door on the inside. It connects the dome light and optional rear window wiper . Remove the 5 Sheet metal screws that …are above the windshield on the inside. Remove the 4 Torx bolts on either side under the side windows. You will want an extension as one bolt on each side is right next to the roll bar. Remove the aluminum trim plates that are under the bolts on either side. Open the rear window and close the rear door. (or remove the spare) Have a friend get on one side while you are on the other holding inside the door opening and the the rear window opening. Lift straight up at least a couple inches as there is an over hang with the front of the top and the windshield frame. Installation is the reverse obviously. A word of warning: The sheet metal screws in the front will start to strip out the holes on the windshield frame. Once they loosen they will begin to fall out and you will start getting more wind noise than before. If it gets too bad you will actually get rain, or even snow leak in between the the top and windshield.
Answer Just read it last night, cuz I have to do the same this weekend. Its actually in the windshield frame itself. You have to unbolt the windshield hold bracke…ts at the dashboard, and the roll bar at the top of the windshield frame, and tip the windshield down to the hood. It should become evident from there. Good luck!
Answer To replace the rear main seal, you'll need to remove the oil pan. It may be necessary to disconnect the exhaust pipe at the manifold to allow enough room.… once the oil pan is off, find the #7 main bearing cap (nearest the rear of your Jeep) and remove the two bolts that hold it in. half of the rear main seal should come off with the bearing cap, leaving the other half still trapped between the crankshaft and the engine block. you can remove this half by pushing on one end of it with a sturdy, yet flexible instrument, like a popsicle stick, or even a soft punch. when the seal starts to rotate out of it's groove, it can be carefully pulled out with pliers. Bear in mind the Rear main seal is nothing but a rubber coated metal ring about 4# in diameter, and half the thickness of a pencil, and is split into two pieces to allow installation and removal. BE VERY CAREFUL to install the new one facing in the right direction, otherwise your engine will leak profusely! Installation is fairly straight-foreward. grease up the upper half of the seal, and push it carefully into place, insert the lower half into the main bearing cap, and bolt your jeep back together. be sure to correctly torque all internal engine parts, and oil pan bolts as per your service manual
the bleeder is on the passenger side top of the bellhousing, it can be more easily accessed by removing the access plate on the floor around the shifter, you can actually perf…orm the bleeding with one person because of this. loosen the bleeder, pump the clutch down and hold, tighten the bleeder while the pedal is down and repeat until no air comes out with the fluid.
Answer . \nFuse panel under the dash, drivers side. This information is listed in your owner's manual. Get an owner's manual from the dealer or a salvage yard..
Answer . The fuse box is located behind the glove compartment on the passenger side. To get to the fuse box, you have to remove the glove compartment by holding it up sli…ghtly and sliding the woven strap (which is holding it in place) out to the right. The fuses for the wipers are #14 for the front and #6 for the rear.
Answer It should be on the side of the trans, on the drivers side
You need to get the windshield folded down. This means remove the top, then the front sport bar members. On each side is a bracket that holds the windshield upright. Remove sc…rews to allow windshield to be folded down (gently) on the hood. The wiper motor is in the top of the cowl & should easily be visible. It might not be easily accessible, but it will be visible.
Answer There should be 2 large red wires that come off of the positive terminal on the battery. One goes to the starter, the other goes to a power distribution b…lock. There should be 3 or 4 wires that appear green or brown and are about 4 or 5 inches long. These wires are the fusible links. They will connect to the distribution block on one end with a terminal connector. At the other end they will be connected to one or several wires inside a fairly large rubber casing.

Answer Your information is conflicting. The 4.2L is a 6 cylinder engine. 4 cylinder YJ's all have a 2.5L engine, so I'm not sure which you have, but remembering the …capacities is easy. According to the Chilton manual, it's 4 qts. for a 4 cylinder, 6 qts. for a six cylinder. Both volumes include the filter. Always be careful and don't overfill. To be safe, I always add 4 qts. to my 4.2L, then add 1/2 qt at a time checking the dipstick after each addition.
Answer First off, the '91 was the first year that the yj came with the fuel injected 4.0 not the carbureted 4.2. The oil capacity is the same for both, 6.…0 quarts including a new oil filter.

The oil capacity for a 6 cylinder 4.2 liter 1987 Jeep Wrangler is 6 quarts. This oil can be purchased at any auto parts store.
