You can set it good enough by ear to make it run. But to get the timing right you must use an OBDII engine scanner. You can no longer use a timing light.
It is bolted to the side of the timing cover right behind the harmonic balancer. That is the bottom pulley on the front of the engine.
the crankshaft position sensor is located at the underneath side of the engine right at the bottom of the timing chain cover / front of oil pan
You can if you want too, It will go right on there.
Yes they will fit right on there with no machine work are problems.
it will either be on the front of the engine bolted to the block right near the damper pulley. if not the it is in the bell housing on the back of the engine. NEW ANSWER: On all V8 engine 2000 and up, It will be behind the starter. On V6 engines it is on the timing cover behind balancer. NEUTZ
The timing marks are on the timing belt cover on the front of the engine right above the crankshaft pulley.
It does not have one. The timing is controled by the computor. If the timing is not right then the check engine light will be on. You will need a OBD2 engine scanner to set the timing correctly. The only thing you can do is set the base timing by Ear good enough to get it running, then use the engine scanner to get it right,
135 from front to back located on the drivers side or right.246 front to back located passenger or left.
99 zx2 has a non interference engine. This means if the timing is off or the timing belt breaks, no damage will occur to your engine. If you replaced the belt and your engine runs rough, misfires, bucks, that means you didn't put the timing belt on right. It's got to be put on perfectly with the crankshaft at TDC and the cams aligned. Have fun. If you can figure it out, you can take it to a Ford dealer to have the timing belt put on properly.
It should be at the very top near the back of the engine. Just to the right side of the "Vortec" cover on a 4.2 engine.
follow the radiator hose to the engine, right where the hose meets the block is where the thermostat is located. Its on the the front of the engine
