promised a better life
Okay, a better one
Italy, the allies (which supported U.S.A, British, France etc.) had a part in the Versailles treaty which was imposed on Germany. However, they did not get a big part of it. Benito Mussolini, the leader of the Facist promised them to bring out of it and put Italy on a respective position.
With the Germans, they were looking for groups to blame their problems on and this was the jews and communists. The people liked this because they didn't feel as though they were responsible for their problems. There are other reasons as well.
* Fear of Communism * Yearning for a military-style command structure in ordinary civilian life. There's also a theory proposed by T. Adorno and others in "The Authoritarian Personality" (1950) that Fascism appeals strongly to people with authoritarian personalities - the sort of people who long for simple answers to complex questions, have problems coping with uncertainty and ambiguity, are intolerant, servile and conformist (and according to some, are stuck at the "anal" stage of development ... if you take Freud seriously). The theory is interesting, but I would suggest taking it with a ladle full of salt. The second and third links below provide a lists of key authoritarian personality features and is quite useful if viewed with some skepticism.
There are various arguments as to why fascism appealed to the Italians. For example, it could be argued that they wanted to recapture the glory of the Roman Empire.
he was allied with the axis powers.
5 italians
They welcomed him cause he set up a dictatorship weary of strikes and riots
It is true, they have Democrats, Christian Democrats, Communists, other political factions. The Fascist party is illegal, but there are relatives of Mussolini who are active in politics! so it goes.
Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini began his political career as a socialist. Later he saws the "virtue" of fascism. Many Italians were hurt economically after WW 1. Many of them leaned towards socialism and some towards the communism practiced in what became the USSR. The violence of the Bolshevik revolution in Russia, caused many Italians to fear that " communism" and its violence might be a threat to Italy. They saw Mussolini as their best protection against this and they also saw him as a leader of Italian nationalism. Mussolini and his "black shirts" destroyed any political opposition to Mussolini. He used the fears of the Italian people and their yearning of nationalism, to become the first fascist leader in Europe.
Close to 463,000 Italians live in Quebec.
They didn't support freedom for enslaved African Americans
"How many Italians live in Australia?""How many Italians live in Australia?"
With nationalism as the main foundation of fascism, the Golden Dawn party in Greece practices fascism. North Korea is considered by many to be a fascist state.
The three major fascist dictatorships in Europe in the 1930s were Hitler's Nazi Germany, Mussolini's Fascist Italy, and Franco's Nationalist Spain. Other countries in Europe were not explicitly fascist, but many of them like Pilsudski's "Republic of Poland" were fascist dictatorships in all but name. Only France and Britain maintained completely anti-fascist (and non-communist) governments.
There are many reasons why someone would support or oppose President Taft. Many opposed or supported him based on his party representation for example.
Originally from Germany. The National Socialist Workers' Party was originally full of Socialists, as opposed to Communists. But Adolph Hitler joined And began speaking publicly and that's when the Socialists were ousted in favor of Fascists. Hitler was primarily a Fascist, But he called himself a NationalSocialist and co-opted the party to his own ends. His Party, his ends. Then the Party was joined by thousands of Austrians, and soon the Nazi Party had many friends and alliances with other Fascist organizations in yet other countries such as Spain (Francisco Franco), Italy (Benito Mussolini) and even Croatia and Romania. That's just a partial list.
