I don't know about yours, but my 2000 does the same and it it usually because I didn't tighten the gas cap after filling up, and on occasion it did't go out until I changed brand.
Yes, this is often the reason why the check engine light comes on.
The check engine light for the 2001 Isuzu Rodeo often comes on because of a sensor that is damaged or malfunctioning. The most common sensor is an oxygen sensor and when reset, this often allows the light to be reset.
The computer turns on the check engine light in hopes that you'll check the engine codes. It means something is wrong. Use an engine diagnostic scanner to find out what it is. It's easy to do and you can usually borrow one from your local auto parts retailer, they'll often help you figure out what it all means.
This is most often caused by part of the emissions equipment not working. Replacing PCV often fixes it.
That is not how you reset the check engine light. That trick can only be used to reset the airbag light (something I have had to do often). Reseting the CEL involves doing specific maneuvers with the screw on the ECU. Check out SR20forum.com
Well........... It dedends?
replace only when u get a check engine light. the valve is good for the life of the motor(should be)
I had same problem, but this can be caused by a few different things. its either the PTU, the coil pack or the ECU, more often than not its the ECU!
Wrong scanner?? If a check engine light is on, there are codes. Timing sensor? Check engine usually means a problem... Service means that scheduled service needs to be performed like oil change, or timing belt replacement. I would Check your Catalytic Converter. What often happens is the catalyst that is in the Catalytic converter Heats up and Blows out into your Muffler. This means It is not the sensor, but your converter and Muffler Need Replaced.I have just fixed two cars with this problem, and they had the same symptoms,Check engine Light.
Time with no problems will make the light go out or you can hit the reset button on the test unit. If you have an auto parts store nearby, they will very often do this for you.
It could be a loose gas cap often times. Autozone gives free diagnostic checks. If it could be a sensor. Take off the negative cable from the battery and place it back on the battery it will reset the check engine light.
Rendundant engine check is the process that analyzes whether a secondary engine needs to step into and take the place of the primary engine. This switchover often occurs when the primary engine fails.
