No matter how good or bad a president you are, there will always be both critics and fans. I personally think it is sad when people "hate" any president. Here are a variety of opinions about why some people hate President Obama:

Opinions:
  • Probably one of the reasons for his dislike is the bad economy, which affects many people.
  • People expect fast results, which is unrealistic. History shows us that generally during bad times, the president in power usually has bad and lower approval rating. It's true that the president has power to do things, but the US has 3 branches of government for a reason. People should know by now that there many things the president cannot do without the approval of Congress.
  • Americans hate Obama because they don't believe in what he stands for, his views on big government, universal healthcare etc... Plus many view him to be a socialist anti-American, always apologizing for the country he represents.
  • Some People hate Barack Obama because they cannot accept the reality that they have a black President, despite his intelligence, education, and articulateness.
  • I don't think it is his color (that may have even helped him get elected) either but how people think he was raised. His dad was born a Muslim (although he left that religion) and some people still think he must have been raised Muslim, even though there is no evidence of that.
  • Certain politicians and members of the media have embarked on a campaign to denigrate him, even to the point of saying that he is not a native-born American, and, therefore, was not eligible to be President.
  • In my opinion, this is mean-spiritedness. He is our President, and should be permitted to use his four-year term to lead America the way that a President does. If his policies and leadership do not please Americans, we can vote, next time, differently.
  • Instead, they have derided everything about him, from the day he was elected, even before he took office. They did the same thing when Bill Clinton was elected. It is shameful, and, despite our constitutional right of Freedom of Speech, completely negative, unproductive, and unpatriotic.
  • Some people hate him because they have been told he is the enemy by certain right-wing TV and radio Talk Shows. They have been told that Obama is anti-American, or not really born here, or a Marxist, or some other untrue thing, so they assume that he must be a terrible person.

A lot of people have a fear for Barack Obama because he is symbolic for the change in this country that they are not willing to accept. It is hard for some to adjust to a different way of doing things, especially when that person, Barack Obama, "epitomizes" everything they have been raised to fear and hate. Even though he is definitely not a lot of the things people say about him, once you instill an idea about a person it is very hard to erase that image completely. So when it was known that his middle name was "Hussein" he was immediately thought of as a Terrorist which is in absolutely no way at all true.

because people think he is bad at being president and they don't want him to be a president

Some do not like President Obama because of misinformation, such as the myth that he was born in Kenya. Among folks who are literate, some dislike Obama because of philosophical differences over the role of government, particularly the Federal government, in areas such as health care, the economy, and regulation of business.

First, it doesn't matter who the president is-- there are always going to be people who think he is the worst, and people who think he is the best. We have seen this with Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and now with Barack Obama. Please not that this question calls for opinions. There are some very different opinions below, some in opposition, and the others either supportive or neutral. I normally don't comment on opinions, but I do want to note that the person in the first one who says Mr. Obama signed orders about Martial Law and accuses him of setting up a Dictatorship is misinformed. No such orders were signed, and no such dictatorship has occurred, contrary to internet myths and quotes from angry talk show hosts. I also want it noted that Mr. Obama is not a socialist, a communist, a secret Muslim, nor a person who "apologizes for America"-- this is rhetoric from people like Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint, and other conservatives, and while it is widely believed on the right, that does not make it true.

As for my own theory, I think people dislike Mr. Obama because 95% of talk radio and about 80% of talk television is dominated by conservatives and Republicans, so people hear a constant drumbeat of negative assertions about him (many of which are demonstrably false). I am in no way suggesting that President Obama is perfect, and I disagree with some of his policies. But if you hear only the negatives over and over, you may start to believe them. And now, for the other opinions:

One opinion:

THOSE WHO EDUCATE THEMSELVES ON WHAT IS GOING ON CURRENTLY IN THIS COUNTRY DON'T SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT FOR MANY REASONS:

* HE HAS LIED REPEATEDLY * HIS POLICIES ARE BECOMING THOSE OF A DICTATOR * HE HAS SIGNED EXECUTIVE ORDERS WHICH WILL ALLOW THE GOVERNMENT TO ENFORCE MARTIAL LAW * HE IS ATTEMPTING TO STRIP US CITIZENS OF THEIR RIGHTS

THE LIST COULD GO ON. I WAS VERY SUPPORTIVE OF HAVING A BLACK PRESIDENT. I THINK MANY PEOPLE LIKED WHAT HE HAD TO SAY, HIS PROMISES, ETC.. I DON'T SAY ANYTHING IN HATE.

FOR THOSE THAT STILL THINK HE IS DOING THE RIGHT THINGS AND CARES ABOUT THE US, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH AND FIND OUT THE TRUTH. WE ARE LOSING THE UNITED STATES AS WE HAVE KNOWN IT. WE ARE LOSING OUR RIGHTS UNDER THIS ADMINISTRATION. IT NO LONGER HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH BEING A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN. THIS IS A DICTATORSHIP IN THE WORKS.

Another opinion:

Many people think just because he is black, or because his father was Muslim that he has plans to destroy America, or take control. This is racist and wrong. People say it isn't racist or think that ALL Muslims are radicals or suicide bombers. In fact not all Muslims are radicals. (Or people who take their religion too far.) Besides even if this was true, Barack Obama is a Christian man, a family man and more. And blacks were used as slaves in America in 1619 until Lincoln abolished slavery. This country is STILL very racist whether we know it or not. So we need to stand up for change and even if you didn't vote for our new president, you need to pray for him, for his right decisions and for him to change this country around.

Other opinions:

# Probably one of the reasons people dislike him is the bad economy, which affects many people.

# People expect fast results, which is unrealistic. History shows us that generally during bad times, the president in power usually has bad and lower approval rating. It's true that the president has power to do things, but the US has 3 branches of government for a reason. People should know by now that there many things the president cannot do without the approval of Congress (and by the way obama said it would take more than one term to fix this economy a term is four years for those who don't know, hes been in office for two years).

# Americans hate Obama because they don't believe in what he stands for, his views on big government, universal healthcare etc... Plus many view him to be a socialist anti-American,always apologizing for the country he represents.

# Some People hate Barack Obama because they cannot accept the reality that they have a black President, despite his intelligence, education, and articulateness.

# I don't think it is his color (that may have even helped him get elected) either but how people think he was raised his dad was a Muslim but his mom is from the U.S.A. and he went to the country his dad was from but he was 4 he hasn't seen his dad since he was 2 and he says he is not a Muslim but his dad was. He also has that questionable birth certificate from Hawaii.i think people need to get their facts straight and do some research on Barack and his family background

# Certain politicians and members of the media have embarked on a campaign to denigrate him, even to the point of saying that he is not a native-born American, and, therefore, was not eligible to be President.

# In my opinion, this is mean-spiritedness. He is our President, and should be permitted to use his four-year term to lead America the way that a President does. If his policies and leadership do not please Americans, we can vote, next time, differently.

It is not accurate to say that "Americans" hate Barack Obama. It is certainly true that some Americans have an intense dislike for him, but that can also be said about other presidents. Sadly, some of the hatred directed at Mr. Obama is racial; while America has come a long way in its attitudes about race, there are still some bigots out there. But some of the hatred and dislike of Mr. Obama is not racial-- it is political. We are a very polarized country and many of the Republicans, whose party lost the election in both 2008 and 2012, are still angry about it.

Many Republicans continue to believe Barack Obama was the wrong person for the presidency and they cannot understand why he was elected in the first place. They have heard horrible things about him on Fox News and on conservative talk shows, and read all sorts of urban myths about him on the internet. Given that they were told he is [pick one] a socialist, a Marxist, a Muslim, not an American citizen, someone who stole the election, unpatriotic, etc etc, it is not surprising they hate him. The truth about Mr. Obama is that he is not a socialist, not a Marxist, not a Muslim, he was in fact born in Hawaii, he did not steal any elections, he loves his country, and he is not even as liberal as they have been told. But the facts probably won't stop this group of anti-Obama partisans from continuing to believe the worst about it. But fortunately, a majority of Americans not only do not hate Mr. Obama-- they voted for him and re-elected him.

The reason people do not like Barack H Obama, is because of the contents of his character:

1.) Because of his support of social causes that are the exact opposite to the firmly held faith of Christians:

a.) His support of abortions and killing unborn children, the majority of those being African American.

b.) His support of Planned Parenthood, which run abortion mills and sell baby body parts.

c.) His support of marriage between same sex couples.

2.) Because they do not trust him.

3.) Because they believe he has lied and continue to tell lies.

4.) His picking and choosing which laws he will enforce and not enforce.

5.) His not securing our borders.

6.) His disrespect of military.

7.) His socialist agenda and anti-capitalist rhetoric.

These are just a few of the issues that make it difficult to like Barack H Obama.

Martin Luther King Jr, said it best, when talked about his dream:

"I Have a Dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Barack H Obama is being judged not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.

My theory is that many people who listen exclusively to right-wing radio talk shows or watch certain right-wing TV networks are told over and over what a bad person Mr. Obama is; day after day, they hear that he is a secret Muslim who hates America and who is ruining the country. Given the tendency of many Americans to only watch and listen to programs that confirm what they already believe (this is called "confirmation bias"), there are, thus, a group of people who don't trust him and who believe the very negative things they have heard about him. (In fairness, it should be noted that a number of presidents have been controversial or polarizing figures, and they too were hated, including President Bush and President Nixon.)

Just because President Obama isn't as popular as candidate Hillary Clinton does not mean his polls are falling. Certainly his recent treaty with Iran on nuclear weapons has lifted the President's popularity but it is difficult for a sitting President to have the same numbers as a candidate that has not had to make the tough decisions.

Actually, it's not true that "no-one" likes President Obama. Millions of Americans like him, which is demonstrated by the fact that he was elected in 2008 and then re-elected in 2012. He is especially popular with African-Americans, but single women, Hispanics, and Democrats generally like him, as do younger voters. On the other hand, like every president, he has political enemies and there are also many people who disagree with him. Sometimes, it may seem as if nobody likes him because the majority of radio talk shows and many TV political shows are hosted by Republican conservatives, who absolutely do not like this president, and who often dominate the media discourse. In addition, Mr. Obama is living in a very polarized country, where people seem to either love you or hate you, with nothing in between. But reputable pollsters have found that in mid-2015, the president's approval ratings have grown, with a slight majority of Americans approving of his presidency, but a larger majority approving of his handling of certain specific issues.

Why do some people hate Barack Obama?

Usually hate is born of fear. The question might better be asked, "Why do some people fear Barack Obama?" There are probably as many answers to why that is as there are people who say they hate him, so we can not really give any concrete answers to the question.
