your car is probably in "Limp" mode -- it starts in 2nd and never gets out of 2nd -- usually you need either (or both ) an inner and outer shaft speed senso - found on the drivers side/ left side of the transmission above CV halfshaft housing -- look for 2 wires going to each the other spped senso is 5" behind the front sensor
you need a new trans
make sure that trans is in N if that dont work turn car off then shift to 2wd or 4wd
vacuume solenod rear of trans
try changing the filter and the trans fluid
Very common in these cars, the clutch most likely went out on you and it is expensive to get fixed!!!!!!!!! or.....u need tras fluid in the trans if it still wont shift.....u blow the trans sorry....
Slave cylinder no bueno
IF the speedometer is not working it is because the computer is note getting a signal from the trans. and will not tell it to shift. Try replacing the speedometer the sensor in the tail shaft of the trans.
my trans shifts late it dosent slipp shifts hard to get into 1st and 2nd after that she goes right into 3rd then 4th normally i was wondering if there is a shift sensor to tell the trans when to shift
Sounds lke lose bands in trans
Is it an automatic? Time for a new transmission... If a stick and 1st, 3rd, 5th are ok, then you have a possible shift cable problem. You should be able to see them on top of the trans. If everthing is moving properly the trans has an internal problem.
Check your shift solenoids that are mounted on top of the transmission. Also check your trans fluid. If you haven't had the trans filter changed, get it changed also. NOTE: On almost all year model Accords, the transmission must be taken down and apart to change the trans filter. So if you don't know how to do this, than dont try it.
Probably a defective speed sensor in the trans.
