Why would my car not turn over occasionally when my mechanic says there is nothing wrong When it won't start I just hear a click and the battery is checked and is good?

First - could be an intermittant problem with the electrical wiring or starter motor. Second - get a new mechanic

Might be nothing more that dirty terminals or a bad ground connection. Clean the terminals with a battery tool (most partrs stores should have these). Make sure the termilals and the cables are CLEAN and free from all schmutz. If the problem persists, have the battery checked for a bad cell. many places do that for free. After that it gets complicated.

Can be a dead battery, defective starter, loose or corroded battery connection, or blown main fuse. If nothing comes on when you turn on the ignition switch and your interior lights are not working it is not the starter.

Unhook your negative battery cable for a couple hoursand hook it back up. Works for me, sometimes.
