either your belt is way too tight or something is not aligned properly. try taking a straight edge and laying it across your pully's, everything should be perfectly in line The pulley on your generator is too wide trust me, I just installed a higher end "champion" replacement generator in my daugters 1993 323 and the problem has gone away... Either of the previous answers could be correct. However, contributing factors would have to be involved. If this problem started with no action preceeding it, I would think there is another answer. If everything was fine with the belt before it had to be replaced the first time, the size of the pully is not the problem.
If no work was done to the car that involved the pully's then pully alignment is not likely the cause.
The first belt may have broken simply due to wear. If the replacements were put on too loose or too tight, that would have caused premature failure. Being too loose is the most likely cause. If it were too loose, you would have experienced occasional squealing from the belt after installation. If there was work done to the car involving the belts or pully's before this problem started, look to see if that work created a situation that caused or contributed to this issue.
The alternator belt on a 1994 Eclipse is replaced by loosening the alternator bolts, moving the alternator downward, and slipping the belt off. A new belt is then routed around the other accessories, placed on the alternator, and the bolts tightened.
Loosen the tensioner bolt on your 1997 Kia alternator. Move the alternator to the left. The alternator belt will become loose and can be replaced.
The drive belt on the alternator of a 94 Toyota Corolla won't turn if the bearing has seized. The alternator will need to be replaced.
I would check to see if your alternator belt is missing. I have a '95 Pathfinder and my alternator belt has worn off twice within the last year and a half.
I am having the same problem with a 99 Protege. I have changed the alternator and aligned/cleaned the pulleys and the problem persists.I replaced the alternator, on my 1997 Mazda Protege, seven times before someone figured out why the serpentine belt kept breaking. It was the belt tensioner! It had to be removed and rebuilt. Now it is working like a charm!! And I havn't had to replace the alternator in over 3 months!!!!
The alternator belt on a 1998 Honda Civic is replaced by loosening the mounting bracket, disconnecting the wiring harness, and slipping the belt off the pulley. The alternator is then unbolted, removed, and a new unit put in place.
Bad Alternator or the Battery possibly is losing voltage. I replaced the alternator and serpentine belt before thinking it was the battery. The battery was only 16 months old. But it turned out to be the bad source.
It is recommended that you check your belt twice a year. If there are any cracks or it is dried out, it should be replaced.
Remove the wiring harness from the back of your 1995 Chrysler LHS alternator. Remove the alternator belt. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. The alternator will come off and can be replaced with the new alternator.
