Why does coolant light come on for 1997 cavalier already changed water pump filled coolant?

If it's overheating, it cold be thermostat, radiator or possibly other problems. If it's not overheating it could be the coolant level sensor.

Why would a 1991 Pontiac be overheating upon starting the car?

No coolant Thermostat not opening Defective temperature sensor

Can the thermostat on my 1995 cutlass supreme be the reason my car is overheating without any engine or radiator leaks?

A thermostat that is stuck in the closed position is a very common cause of overheating. A new thermostat should be installed every time the coolant is changed.

Your 1996 Nissan maxima is overheating occasionally what should you do?

Overheating is due to, well, the coolant in the cooling system getting too hot. In a normally operating engine, this should never be a problem. First, check that the coolant level is correct. If it is correct, I would suspect a problem with the thermostat. When the engine is cold, the thermostat closes off coolant flow through the engine until the coolant reaches a pre-determined temperature. When that temperature is reached, the thermostat opens to allow the coolant to circulate at that exact temperature. Thermostats are known for failing and either not opening or not opening enough at that pre-determined temperature. This causes coolant to get trapped too long in the engine coolant chambers, heating it beyond limits, causing the engine temperature to increase and possibly overheat. If my Maxima was overheating, I would check the coolant levels and then possibly replace the thermostat. It usually is no more complicated than that.

Car overheating and no heat?

No thermostat, no coolant, no waterpump. Basically you have no coolant circulating.

Would a fauly thermostat cause coolant loss?

Yes it can. A faulty thermostat can cause overheating which will cause coolant to be pushed out of the system.

What is the normal coolant temperature in a Cadillac?

Depending on the engine, the coolant temperature in a Cadillac could be from 180 to 195 degrees. The thermostat can be changed to give a lower or higher temp reading.

What does the P0128 code mean?

"COOLANT THERMOSTAT" -COOLANT TEMP BELOW THERMOSTAT TEMPERATURE

Why does my 1995 cavalier keep overheating?

Low coolant, bad coolant tank cap, stuck thermostat, or clogged coolant line.

You have changed the radiator cap the thermostat the water pump is new and recently changed radiator the radiator stopped the frequenrt overheating but now very rarely it overheats and coolant boil?

Blown head gasket?

Why does check gauges light come on and temperature go up?

That happens because the engine is overheating. Normal causes are low coolant, bad thermostat, or inoperative fan.

What is the problem when the heat gauge of your Camry indicates overheating?

The Engine Coolant Temperature in the Engine is higher than it should be. Check your radiator coolant level - also your radiator may be clogged or thermostat may be stuck.
