You will have to disconnect the battery. The fuel pump & fuel guage senders are now one unit inside the gas tank. (NO SMOKING) The gas tank needs to be removed. Disconnect the fuel lines & electrical plug(s). There is a large 4" to 5" diameter metal ring that needs to be removed counter clockwise about 1/4 turn. This can be done with a hammer & screwdriver. It will be a tight fit when removing. This sending unit will be about 12" long with a float at the end. When reinstalling make sure you put in a new O ring. Be careful to reallign the fuel pump the same as it came out. Good luck
A likely cause is a failing instrument cluster.
Are they flipped all the way around? I had my Caravan do the same when the battery went dead. I actually had to remove the gauge cluster and manually move them back. I am not too familiar with the sebring but since they are made by the same parent companies it shouldn't bee that hard to do yourself.
Mine is not a '96, but on this car and others I have owned - not all Chryslers - the location and amperage of each of the fuses has been detailed in the owner's manual. Check there if you haven't already.
Over temperature warning.
In the middle (about 195 degrees).
Check your grounding on your temp sending unit.
replace temperature gauge
Can be loose connections or the alternator is failing.
The odometer unit has failed and will need replaced.
instrument cluster needs to come out and apart to gain access and replace gauge
The sending unit inside the fuel tank is failing.
Take out the fuel gauge and fish for the magnet inside the fuel tank. Then disassemble the fuel gauge to replace the broken magnet. Reassemble and replace. Done...
