I am actually having this problem.. here is mine... see if it relates to you.
My headlights (on regular, low beam) do not work. I cannot get them to come on in the high beam either. But, if I pull the blinker arm forward for the passing flash thing, they light up on high-beams (only for as long as I hold the lights on).
I have found the problem to be a thing called "Multifunction Switch". My car is a 1997 Ford Taurus G....
See if that helps you any. It was my underlying issue and mine is getting fixed tonight. :) Good luck
The circuit requires the hi/lo switch. You'll need to get a replacement switch for everything to complete the headlamp circuitry.
Just replaced the headlight bulbs in a 98 Grand Cherokee that had the same problem. It had the wrong bulbs in it. It had 9007's in it. Calls for 9004's.
both my lowbeam headlights aren't working although high beam and parking lights do. probably aloose connection. any ideas how i can fix it sal
Check the switch.
The entire lighting system is grounded to the frame of the vehicle. If the ground wire is not connected properly, or if it is corroded the lights will not work.
Change your dimmer switch, it went out.the dimmer switch will allow your lights to work but cause problems with your high beam, also can cause your parking lights to short out. Change it asap
Headlights, interior lights, parking lights,Headlights, interior lights, parking lights,
Check the fuse for the headlights. It is probably open.
A couple of things to troubleshoot here first: 1. Do the car's lights work? Not the interior light, the headlights. If the headlights don't work or they go completely dim when you turn the key, your battery is dead.
Turn your headlight switch to the "on" position. disconnect the power wires from the bulbs and use a volt meter to find which ones have voltage. if your highbeams are off, then the wires with voltage are your normal driving lights. the ones without power are your highbeams. also. positive and negative don't really matter with lights. just so long as there is current running through the fillament. there is usually only one way the plug will fit the lights anyways.
Not if headlights are reqired by law.
Check your fuses! If they're all good I would next check the wireing on your stereo. I had a loose wire once back there and it made my instrument cluster's lights not work when I had the headlights on and I had to guess my speeds at night.
