What is the climate in the central valley of California?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Our climate ranges from hot in the summer ( I have seen highs of 117 F in the summer to lows in the teens during the winter, but both of those are extremes.) During winter, we can have frost every night with heavy dense fog from late November to late February. The spring months are usually nice with 55-80 degree days. The fruit trees start to blossom as early as late January and the wild flowers can start blooming in December.

The valley has a semi arid climate so we don't really get a lot of rain, and on unusually warm winter days it can get into the 70's.

What is the climate of the California central valley?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depends on the time of year. In the winter months we freeze, have fog, and average daytime temp is about 60-65 degrees. I wear a down coat in the winter. Our spring time have been very short the last few years and we seem to heat up faster so we range from 75-80 to 100+. We have had 105 and this summer had 2-3 days of 112. Our hottest months are July, Aug and Sept. Our first cold night is Oct. 31.

What is the weather like in Fresno California?

There is a wide range of climate in Fresno. The summer months are hot and can get up to 110, but the average is about 95-100. The nice thing about the summer is the cooler nights when a slight breeze comes up at about 8:00 PM. Fall is much the same, but the nights get cooler and the first really cold night is usually close to the end of Oct. In the winter months it can range from a low of 32 degrees at night to 65-70 degrees in the day. The worse thing about the winter is the thick dense fog that settles into the area. That usually begins about late December and runs to about Feb-March. There are winter nights when everything does freeze and days when the fog doesn't lift. Spring months are rather nice, but in the last few years have gotten shorter. The average temperature is about 75-80 degrees and with cooler nights. Everything begins to bloom and bud in the spring so it is a pretty time of year.
