Friends of Mr. Hudson have said he wanted children and at one time seriously thought of adoption. But he never followed through on these feelings. Also he told his long time lover at the end of his life that he thought he might have a son. However, his estate was left to George Nader and Mark Miller; two long time friends. He didn't acknowledge any children.

Rock Hudson was married to Phyllis Lucille Gates(December 7, 1925 - January 4, 2006), who was a talent agency secretary when they met. She and Rock were married on November 9, 1955.
After finding out, she said, about Hudson's true sexual orientation, and his infidelity while filming in Italy, she separated from him in 1957. Finally, amid charges of mental cruelty, Phyllis Gates filed for divorce from Rock Hudson in April of 1958.
In later life, she became a successful interior decorator; but passed away in 2006 from complications of lung cancer in her Marina del Rey home. She was 80 years old.
