this is not the ECU!! this is a bad fuse or fuseable link, very likely a problem in the wire harness. bad connection. ect. Sorry no easy replacement with your problem. It maybe a relay. but not likely. you need a cheep mulitmeter. for me to help you (need mor info)!! look for rusty pin conectiors (green in color). with your meter check that you get 12.5 volts to your alt. on the two small wires. and big one to. I bet you are not getting voltage to your regulator ( in the alt.) this is the small wires! if you jump 12 volts to the small wire e your alt. wil work this time only. trace this wire back to find your problem. hope this helps ya best of luck! a working alt. will produce 13 plus volts but only when the regulator is entergized!! in the small wire!!!!!
The check gauges light comes on when one of the gauges is out of its safe range. It could be the alternator over or under charging, oil pressure low, or the engine overheating. The check gauges light comes on when one of the gauges is out of its safe range. The check gauges light comes one when one of the gauges is not in the safe range. It could be an engine overheat, low oil pressure, or the alternator over/under charging.
The check gauges light usually means that one of the gauges is out of its normal range. It could be due to an overheat, a under/over charging alternator, low oil pressure etc
Sounds like it is not charging, have the charging system tested, it may be the alternator at fault.
All that would be left would be a short in the wiring to the alternator.
you have a dead short in the wireing.

i had this happen once on an 03 dodge minivan. the alternator went bad and the battery was going dead but had enough power to get the engine started. once i replaced the alternator and charged the battery the gauges worked again. good luck!
The check gauges light usually means that one of the gauges is out of its normal range. It could be due to an overheat, a under/over charging alternator, low oil pressure....Because one or more of the gauges is not in the safe zone.ie: over/under charging, overheating, low oil pressure.....Either your engine temperature is too high , your oil pressure is too low , or your gas gauge is at or near empty
Voltage regulator is in computer. Check Alternator, then check computer
On my car it was a relay called "Ignition relay". That relay also kept the battery for charging as it stopped and started the current flow to the battery AFTER the alternator. Changed and all symptoms you mentioned ( which I also had) went away.
It is telling you that one of the gauges is out of normal range. You may be overheating, have low oil pressure or your not charging.
