Check the compression. that will be a far more accurate determination of whether there has been damage from overheating. If the compression is still ok across all cylinders, run a computer diagnostic test.
a cracked head
=To properly flush the antifreeze on a 2002 Yukon you will need a antifreeze vacume system you will need to start the car and have it running turn on all the heating modules to high and have the car reved at about 1.5 r.p.m, or a little higher to activate the vaccume this will start sucking the old antifreeze out. When the radiator is empty{you will know when it is empty because there will be no more antifreeze coming out}you can then fill it up with half and half antifreeze[half water half antifreeze].=
I think its just cause its over-heating...
your alero wil start stalling and eventually stop..
saftey reasons it probably has a saftey switch in the fuel pump for when u start going to fast it shuts gas off to the engine
Hi..I recently had troubles with my alero, and it was the intake manifold gasket, which i guess is a common problem with 2000 alero's...i would get that checked out
I have a 2003 Alero While it sits in the sun for hours it will not start up and when the sun goes down it will start what could be the problem
It could be that your head gasket is shot. It may cause your antifreeze to leak, and your engine will overheat.
I have has many problems with my 2000 alero. I leak coolant/antifreeze.. but only a little at a time.. and it NEVER over heats. I leak a little bit of oil. I had to relplace the censors in my tires and all the stuff that goes along with it. It cost me 800$$$$. Now.. My car wont start right away it takes like 4 tries and some grinding of something for it to start. I know it has to be the starter.also there is a recall on the blinkers from GM.
It probably won't start
they started using antifreeze in cars in 1324 march.20 on tuesday
i would be looking at the head gasket, if it wont start the engine could be hydro-locked meaning the cylinders could be filled with antifreeze. probably not any long term damage if this is the case.
