My race motors, in gear with an automatic, will go as low as 15, or 20 lbs., at idle, but jump right up to about 40lbs., right off idle. They max at around 50lbs., warm. Cold is another story. I pin the needle, at 100, on warm up. The ideal pressure for a small block, is 40 lbs. More than that will wash out the bearings. At idle, 20 will be fine. Remember, there is an accuracy issue, when it comes to electric gauges, as well. Mechanical, are always your best choice.
how to install the oil pressure gauge on a Chevy 350 small block
Engine noise.
40-50 lbs
Need to know the year.
Not sure, i would say oil pump or cam bearings
I have a 1974 Chevy truck with the 350 V8 and the engine is in good shape. At idle the oil pressure is 35-40 PSI, at driving speed it goes up to about 50 PSI. Hope this helps.
At the back of the block, near the distributor.
oil pressure switch or knock sensor
Next to distributor, on top of the block, at the very back of engine (usually).
10w30 should work fine. Go to a heavier oil to increase oil pressure.
it could be your oil pump but not always it could also have trash in stopping ur oil pressure frome staying the same or the oil could mite need to be changed
Average 18-45 depending if the motor is cold or not, depending what oil weight you use.
