ALTHOUGH THERE MAY BE A LEAK IN THE HOSES OR THE PUMP RESRVOIR, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT A COMMON PROBLEM ON THAT CAR IS THE STEERING BOX SHAFT FAILS FROM WITHIN: THE STEERING BOX ON THE TOWNCAR HAS SEALS THAT FAIL DUE TO AN INTERNAL FAILURE WITHIN THE BOX. THE SHAFT MOVES IN AN OVAL PATTERN, NOT THE PROPER CIRCULAR PATTERN IT SHOULD, WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN YOU FILL UP THE STEERING FLUID, IT HOLDS FULL. AS SOON AS YOU START TURNING THE WHEEL OR SOON THEREAFTER, IT USUALLY GUSHES OUT AS THE SEAL IS MOVED IN AN OVAL NOT CIRCULAR DIRECTION DUE TO THE WORN PARTS. THIS IS WHY YOU SEE NO PUDDLE UNDERNEATH, IT ALL GUSHED OUT TOWARDS THE ROAD SURFACE. IT RARLY IF EVER GUSHES UPWARDS. IN SHORT, MOST LIKELY YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING BOX.
What will happen if u I added power steering fluid to a leaking power steering pump
The fluid could be leaking from the pump, hoses, or steering rack. Wash the steering system, then you can see where the leak is coming from.
power steering or transmission
Noise may be heard in a power steering line when the power steering fluid is low. Low power steering fluid may occur due to a leaking power steering pump in most cases. If the pump is not leaking, then the fluid needs to be added.
sounds like transmisstion fluid or power steering.
my power steering fluid on my 2002 Saturn lw300 started leaking off and on but now i have to put put fluid in everytime i want to drive it.
There could be many causes to a car leaking power steering fluid. There could be a hole in the reservoir, or the seals could be worn or broken.
That's automatic transmission fluid , or power steering fluid , so it would depend on where it is leaking from
yellow, brown, red????
The fluid is over filled.
trans fluid,power steering fluid,dex-cool antifreeze
Grinding, rough steering, fluid leaking from seals.
