Does the engine crank over?
Batteries low. Starter's getting current but not enough.
Could be a bad starter solenoidCould be a bad neutral or clutch safety switch if so equipped
I have a 93 roadmaster and I'm trying to put a radiator in, so what size line wrenches do i need to connect the oil cooler
bad starter. Hit it with a hammer lightly while anothe person turns the key. suggestion, replace the starter.
A single click usually indicates a fault in the starter relay or solenoid - could also be a loose cable or wire.
Did you follow the starter alignment instructions when you replaced the starter? Are you getting oil on the Bendix? That could cause the starter gear to engage slowly. It is possible that the replacment starter has a problem. Also, if the previous starter had the same problem it could have damaged the gear on the flex plate.
Im trying to swap the starter on a 1999 BMW 328i
Personally, I would just replace the starter. Save the headaches involve with trying to get it fix. By replacing it you will have peace of mind knowing it wont come apart in the near future and cause any electrical shorts or other problems.
Ive got the same problem on the same year
i assume on this that you are trying to start car, and just getting clicking sounds even when boosting with a battery charger. if this is correct, then you need to replace starter motor
you will hear a loud screeching noise from where the starter is trying to engage with the flywheel...if these cogs are worn the starter will slip and make this noise.
the solenoid on your starter is finished, replace the starter......
