Examples of antipathy to Jews and Judaism during ancient times are abundant. Statements exhibiting prejudice towards Jews and their religion can be found in the works of many pagan Greek and Roman writers who concidered the political and religious order backward and unenlightened.

During the Middle Ages in Europe there was persecution against Jews in many places, with blood libels, expulsions, forced conversions and massacres. The persecution hit its first peak during the Crusades and spanish inquisition. The main cause of this was religious with both the protestant and catholic factions calling for the removal or killing of Jews.

Even in early 1900's Leo Frank was lynched in America and Henry ford dissemenated anti semitic ideas in his newspaper. FDR was even accused of heading a Jewish cabal to take over American financial institutions.

The fact that 6 million Jews were killed in World War II by the Nazis has more than anything else has caused the reputation of Jews as targets of hatred and rightly so, shortly after world war 2 ended Jews returning to homes in Europe and especially Poland were viciously attacked and pogroms erupted. In the Soviet Union 2 million Jews were being held prisoner and when allowed to finally leave after violent protests and boycotts in the United states 10000 Jews a month were escaping en masse to israel. also after thethe night of the conception of the Jewish state in 1948 as per the UN resolution 181. the evening the Jewish state came into being israel was invaded by Egypt,

Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia,Yemen, Holy War Army, Arab Liberation Army whose stated purpose was to push the Jews into the sea and wipe it off the face of the world. The Arab israeli continues to this day after several wars and Muslim terrorism of isreali population. President of Iran ahmedinejad has threatened to wipe Israel off the map and called it a cancerous sore. Also rising anti-semetism in Europe and Africa has troubled and astounded many, the modern day academics are also very anti semitic and have repeatedly called for boycotts of israel, despite israel being the center of many advances in science and medecine.

Anti semetism has become so widespread and accepted comedian Tom Lehrer even included mentioning it in his satirical song "national brotherhood week"

"Oh the Protestants hate the Catholics,

and the Catholics hate the Protestants,

and the Hindus hate the Moslems

and everybody hates the Jews."

A report from the U.S. State Department from March 14 2008 detailed "an upsurge" across the world of antisemitism -- hostility and discrimination toward Jewish people.
