Look for a sticker with the timing specs inside the engine compartment of your vehicle, probably on the driver's side hood. It will list engine class, size, etc. as well as ignition timing in degrees before or after top dead center. The sticker will also tell you other requirements that are needed such as what rpm the engine should be running at when you set timing and if you need to remove and plug the vacuum advance hose attached to the base of the distributor(which could give you a false reading) or anything else that may be needed for emission devices.
If you can't find a sticker, your local library should have a service manual that covers your vehicle, you can either write the info down or copy the page(s)
