Yes.

Battery chargers like those used in phones and cameras do not show how much charge is in the battery, but simply show when the battery will accept no further charge.

The capacity of a battery to accept a charge becomes reduced through age or other factors such as repeatedly allowing it to fully discharge. It will charge, but not to its full capacity. Thus, while the charger may show that the battery is full, there may be so little actual charge that it goes dead immediately when the device is turned on.

Why wont my GT365 phone charge?

The charger might have something wrong with it. Or the battery is shot. Go to the shop where you got your phone and show them your charger and battery see what they say.

What should battery charger needle read?

That depends on the battery, and the charger. my charger has different settings for higher amps to give a faster charge or jump. A fully charged battery will show 12.6 volts. The charger will read it's maximum amperage if the battery is totally discharged. A fully charged battery will read 12.6 volts with a digital DC volt meter. If it reads 12 volts it has less than 25% charge.

What causes a Yamaha golf cart 48v charger show abnormal cycle?

A Yamaha golf cart 48V charger might show abnormal cycle if the battery is getting worn out. It is possible that the charger is not getting enough juice to complete the charge,

What is the difference between battery charger and intelligent battery charger?

a simple battery charger only charges the battery and having no feedback from the battery status, it can cause overcharging, increase temperature, and can damage the battery or in worst case can blow up the battery, also mitigates the life time of the battery. whether intelligent battery charger charges the battery and get feedback from the battery , when the battery gets fully charged it Cut off the charging circuit itself, also maintain the charging at its trickling current to control the temperature. simply it shows the status of the battery. i hope its the Good answer. thanks although the intelligent battery charger charges the battery and get feedback from the battery, the batteries have different charge characteristics. For example ,some intelligent battery charger detect △V and △T to control charge. However when batteries has been charged fully, they will show different characteristics. some battery has show the voltage dropped, but in fact they has not been charged fully, even charged a little just because the wave input voltage.some batteries has show the voltage dropped, but the batteries has charged fully for a long time.So acccording to the △V not to determine the fully charged.△T has the same problem and when the same battery charged fully will come different temperature,if the charging current is different. So △T is worse than the △V. Finally, although the intelligent battery charger can get feedback, now the battery charge characteristic is unsure. So it is no sense. I think battery charge should be distinction by constants current or constants voltage.they will produce obvious different effect of charge.

What reading on a battery charger will indicate the battery is charged fully?

If the charger has a ammeter on it then it should show close to zero which means the battery is no longer pulling any current from the charger which would mean the battery is fully charged. If it has only a voltmeter then it should show 12.5-13.5 vdc

Why does netbook computer's battery indicator light not show when connected to AC outlet?

Some laptops and netbooks do not show the charge light, once the battery has been fully charged. Check it out. Run the computer on the battery for several minutes, then plug the charger in. You should get a charge light until the battery is full. Some computers have a charge light that changes colour, Orange for charging and green for full.

How do you recharge a dead car battery?

Depends how dead it is.Start off by checking the cell levels and topping them up with distilled water, nothing else,if one cell is MUCH lower than the others it can indicate a dead cell that has an internal short caused by sulphate deposits between the battery plates,if this is the case the battery is knackered. After topping up,leave the cell caps off and connect the + and - of the battery charger to the battery, making sure you have connected them the right eat + to+ - to -,plug the charger in then switch on,the battery if flat/low will draw a high current at the begining of charging (The ammetre will swing to right if a electro/mech gauge from 0 to about 10 Amps, depending on the capacity of the charger and the state of the battery)if its a charger with charging lights, more lights show a high current charge, the battery will pull a high charge for about 5 hours and as the battery charges up the amps it draws will slowly decrease to about a couple of amps.On average it takes about 12hours to fully charge a flat battery,if the battery has been excessively discharged it can take upto 72 hours with a 10 amp charger (no kidding!)Fast charging batteries should be avoided as it can and does damage them. The ONLY way to check that a battery is fully charged you will have to use what is called a hydrometer to check the electrolytes charge in each cell, insert the hydrometer in the first cell and draw up some of the electrolyte with the bulb ontop until the float starts to float (You are checking the fluids specific gravity here) most floats are colour marked red, orange, green, the higher the float sits in the liquid the higher the charge, look at the level of the fluid against the floating float,if fully charged the fluid level will be accross the green portion of the float, check each cell one at a time and rinse the hydrometer between cells with distilled water, just suck some up with the hydrometer and the squeeze it out. Each cell should hold about the same charge when fully charge, any cells that show low levels of charge may be dead say if you get 5 cells in the green and one in the red after 12hrs of charging the battery is knackered,it will start a car,but it wont hold a charge as the dead cell will cause a slow short circuit in the battery, replace the battery.Sometime if you charge the battery for a couple of days you may be able to recover a battery with a dead sell as the sulphate deposit might be dissolved removing the short, but best not to risk it though, nothing worse than a battery you cant trust!DO NOT USE A HIGH CURRENT CHARGER (50AMP+) TO TRY AND "BOIL" A BATTERY TO LIFE,YOU WILL OVERHEAT IT AND BUCKLE THE PLATES!!)When tha battery is fully charged, check the fluid level and top up if nesescary and replace the caps on the cells, leave the battery to degas for half an hour or so before using.Fully charged voltage after sitting for an hour after charging should be 12.8-13.8v,any lower replace battery.simply with a battery charger. you can also try jumper cables to charge it up enough.

Can you charge an optima battery?

Yes you can. I run three yellow tops in my show truck ( I need them to power 16 12" pioneer premier subs) and there is a trick you wont find in the website. If it is just a little low, charge it like normal. If you left your lights on or for any other reason, and the battery is completely dead and you are having trouble getting it to charge, hook it up to the charger and turn it to boost. You want it to send as many amps as possible to the battery. You leave it on boost for 2 to 3 hours, and the battery should be rejuvenated. This info came directly from optima customer service when I killed my 3 batteries.

The car has been left standing for 3 months and will not start no ignition light on the dashboard?

It is very common for the battery to discharge on a vehicle sitting idle for 3 months. First disconnect the positive + & negative- battery cables, and clean the battery post and cable connections off. Apply a thin layer of dielectric grease or Vaseline to the battery post and connect the negative - cable. Put a battery charger on the battery and let it fully charge overnight. If it will not accept a charge it is defective. It it does show fully charged, connect the positive + cable and see if the engine will start. if not, then more than likely the battery is dead and needs replacing.

Can a lithium ion battery be overcharged?

Yes because it will have more charge because it has been there for a very long time A battery charger can overcharge a battery. Because now many battery chargers are used constant voltage source to charge battery. The charging current of the battery chargers is change. They detect △V to determine fully charged. But different battery show different △V. For example, before some battery is fully charged, the voltage has been dropped.however, after some other batteries has been charged for a long time, the voltage hasn't been dropped. And more, although the same battery during the old time and new time show different △V. So it is normal that the battery charger which used constants voltage will be overcharged battery

How do you know when the battery is dead?

A visual check shows an excess of white buildup between plates. This is lead sulphate. If it is touching both plates in a cell, that cell is dead. This reduces power from the entire battery and may render it useless for applications that need full 12V. If a battery does not retain charge despite long hours of charging, it is dead. The lead oxide paste may have flaked off or the lead plates may have corroded leading to non-retention of charge and a dead battery is the result. If charging does not raise battery voltage or show adequate current according to its Ah rating, the battery is dead. If it is dried up and left unused without recharging for a long time, the battery dies.

How can I fix my GT-P5110 When I put it on charge it doesn't show a charging battery icon. After some time it does show this icon for a few seconds but goes off again. It was rooted. What is wrong?

Your battery is probably fully charged and the brief flash of the icon is just the charger "topping it off". There is nothing to fix, as nothing is wrong about this charging behaviour.
