The OIL SENDING UNIT is the device than senses oil pressure in the passage after the oil pump. The oil pump sucks oil from the oil pan and sends it under high pressure through the passage to the engine components. If the Oil Sending Unit or oil pressure sensor develops a leak it (ie... its leaking) it should be replaced asap. It will leak oil at an undetermined rate, depending upon how bad it becomes, you need to judge when to replace it. For the cost of having a professional install it it's nothing compared to the cost of an engine failure. Proceed with caution.
Probably you need to replace the oil pressure sending unit. It is located on the engine down close to the oil pan. If the sending unit is leaking oil then replace it by all means. Doubtful that the oil pump is defective.
If you are leaking freon, then there is a small crack or break somewhere in the system. Either from age (old corroded unit) or from stress (someone having bumped or stressed the lines or unit) If you are leaking water at the furnace area, then the condensate is not draining out of the evaporator (A-coil) due possibly to a clogged drain tube. All evaporators have drain tubes. If your lines are leaking (water all over them) then the air moisture is condensing on the lines and the line (usually the thicker one) should be insulated with foam pipe insulation.
where is the oill sending unit on 1987 silverado.if it is bad does the gaue not work all of the time
wish you got an answer mine is leaking all over my floor to.
If your sending unit is sending a wrong signal to your dash indicator such as no oil or low on oil when you know the level is okay, or vice-versa. Sometimes the sending unit will short out or just wear out and send the wrong or no signal at all.
Remove the rear light cell to expose the sending unit. All will be clear then.....AP
There is a heater hose that goes in the left rear back side of the intake manifold that hooks to a quick disconnect fitting, It is common for the fitting to leak antifreeze. If it is oil that is leaking, then there is a oil sending unit to the right of the distributor that could be leaking oil. There is a long rubber gasket that seals the back of the intake manifold to keep it from leaking oil also. That's all that could be leaking back there. GOOD LUCK.
Hello all The Fuel Sending Unit in a 2003 Chevy Malibu is the the Fuel tank itself! You must unbolt the fuel tank from the two straps. Be very carfull that you do this while the fuel tank is almost empty this way when you drop it it wont be too heavy. You will have to unscrew the cap where you have all the wires on the inner top of the tank. The fuel pump and sending unit is all together when I replaced the fuel pump ($200.00) the sending unit came together. This is all I know you will have to reseaech see if the sending unit comes alone. good luck
probably the sending unit. unfourtunatly the sending unit and fuel pump are made in one peice, so expect it to be expensive
Bad sending unit, corroded wire from the sending unit to the gauge, faulty fuel gauge are a few.
It is found in the gas tank pump and sending unit are all in 1 unit. Let a pro fix it because you are dealing with gas and it is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.
$300 from Autovalue. Fuel pump, pressure valve, filter and sending unit all one part.
