No need. Replace the original pully location with a remote pully. same size belt. nice look. keeps balance. simple r&r work.
They sell bypass pulleys but you may need to remove compressor to install (this I'm not sure about but looks like you have to.) I s there an easier fix?

The compressor pulley is the closest pulley to the ground in the set of pulleys driving the belt. Driver's side towards the front of the car underneath all of the pullleys and main drive belt.
IPD makes a kit for some Volvos, depends on if the pulleys line up correctly. If not, get an empty, but spinning, compressor from junkjard to act as pulley.
Most of the time, there is no way to route the belt without all the pulleys in place. As long as the bearing in the clutch on the AC turns it is alright, the compressor itself does not need to work.
Make a diagram of all the pulleys and draw the belt in. Locate the belt tensionor. Loosen it. Slide belt off of the pulleys. Look at your diagram and install the new belt. Tighten tensionor. There should be little play in the belt after being installed on the pulleys.

Align those pulleys!Check that all the pulleys are perfectly aligned, then take off coil wire and crank without starting to check alignment. If okay, then make sure the belt is tight. If you still have problems, you may have a frozen component; air conditioner compressor, alternator, etc. Then it's time for a mechanic. I found that the smog pulley was reversed when put back together by my nephew and his father in law when they changed out the water pump, causing the pulleys to be misaligned and shred belts.
